programs expanding their reach overseas, etc. Furthermore, we have seen the total number of outlets supporting Christian music
videos increase as well. There are a total of 167* outlets this year, up from 158 outlets at this time last year. In addition outlets are
maximizing artists’ exposure by artist banners, press releases and music videos on their websites. Viewers can stream videos on
demand, vote for their favorite clips to make it on-air and even participate in outlet designed “text to win” and facebook campaigns in
which the winner receives promotional material from select artists. Overall, the opportunity for fans to connect visually with their
favorite artists through music video outlets continues to develop, making music video placement a key element in artist promotion

Regional Programs
Every week, millions of impressions are made by regional Christian television programs. Currently there are 86 shows in 50+
markets nationwide. Major carriers for regional Christian video programs/outlets include ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW, as
well as selected cable cast and public access stations. There are currently 26 regional broadcast shows and 60 cable
programs who are featuring Christian music videos. The total number of potential households reached is well over 60 million
households – an estimated 35.7 million households reached via broadcast and 28.6 million via cable.
In these hard times, we continue to see a small but steady increase in the number of regional Christian outlets. There are a
total of 86 programs utilizing Christian content this year throughout all geographic regions, up from last year’s 80. Furthermore,
digital television provides a promising outlook for years to come as it continues to create more opportunities for growth through
sub-channel placement.

Web Based Outlets
Online opportunity and placement for music videos continues to expand at an ever-increasing rate. Recent statistics show that more than 200 million
Americans have access to the Internet and according to ComScore, Inc., a leading internet market research reporter, a staggering 84.8% of that group
has watched video online. This equates to roughly 180 million viewers. With the emergence of “smart phones,” more and more mobile phone users are
also turning to their devices to watch streaming video content online. ComScore, Inc. reports that 17.6 million people watched streaming video on their
phones in the 4th Quarter of 2009 – up 57% from 4th Quarter 2008. While licensing issues still occasionally impede clearances between record labels and
websites, the number of agreements cleared is steadily growing, as videos become an integral part of the online experience. In 2009, it was reported that Americans watched 14.5 billion videos online in March of that year. Recent findings indicate that Americans watched
more than 31.2 billion videos online in March 2010.1 This is a 67% increase in just one year. The average duration of a video watched was 4.3
minutes, making a singular music video an almost perfect match for the medium. Key internet outlets for Christian videos are GospelMusicChannel.com, Tangle.com, Breathecast.com, Heartitfirst.com and CCMMagazine.com. Major
multi-format music sites such as Yahoomusic.com, AOL Music Videos and Clear Channel radio station websites also host a variety of Christian music
videos and offer world premiere opportunities for them as well. And many television outlets – such as GMC, JCTV, BET and more - also supplement
their show, by utilizing the videos on their websites, as well as engaging fans via social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.

Crossover Opportunities
For Christian acts, focus on the Secular market continues to grow, which reflects the increasing volume of content flooding these outlets.
Music videos provide a great entryway into this market, allowing artists to reach a large and previously untapped audience. With many
Christian bands now adopting musical styles and images similar to their Secular counterparts, the opportunities for mainstream play have never
been stronger. The following is an overivew of the roughly 70 outlets with which Secular placement opportunities exists. Note: While
crossover opportunities are many, the look and concept of the video, as well as lyrical content play a large role in determining whether or not a
mainstream outlet will be able to support a CCM clip.
NATIONAL:
24/7 music networks such as Mtv2, MtvU, Fuse, Music Choice, BET and Eye Music Network are currently placing a variety of CCM
titles from Rock to Hip Hop to Country. In addition, weekly programs with national reach through syndication are also available. These
programs include Music Mix USA (70+ markets), The American Chart Show, Hard Times, and Voice of America’s Get Reel program.
INTERNET:
Illustrious opportunities include world premieres, front page featured placement and promotional events on frequently visited websites
such as AOL Music, Yahoomusic.com and Clear Channel radio station websites. This placement offers CCM content to an ample
mainstream audience.
VIDEO POOL/CLOSED CIRCUIT PROVIDERS:
These outlets do an excellent job of placing CCM clips in mainstream mixes, offering them up to an audience not found in the traditional
broadcast mediums. With their programming found in retail and entertainment locations – such as Journey’s, Journey’s Kids, Harley
Davidson, nightclubs, fitness centers, hotels, etc – these companies offer unique opportunities to reach the Secular fanbase.
LOCAL/REGIONAL VIDEO OUTLETS:
Much like their CCM counterparts, these mainstream shows offer a great opportunity to reach consumers on a local level. Outlets can
be found on Broadcast and Cable and many are produced through local college campuses. These programs vary from 24/7 M&E TV in
Austin, Indy’s Music Channel in Indianapolis and BVM Videos in Phoenix, to weekly shows like the long running JBTV in Chicago, The
Rage in Boston and Strictly Global in Washington D.C. Other markets include Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Fancisco, Minneapolis/St.
Paul, Birmingham and Baltimore among others.
Video is one of the fastest-spreading and most effective marketing tools available today, from grassroots viral initiatives to big budget music
videos suitable for network television. Local and regional outlets, video pool/closed circuit providers, nationally and internationally syndicated
shows, internet opportunities and secular crossover continues to provide today’s Christian artists with new and exciting ways to connect them
10
with their fans. Video Outlet Impact
Music Videos continue to be an invaluable tool in artist marketing, promotion and awareness. New internet
opportunities, broadened cable penetration and continued growth of regional programming keeps the reach of
Christian video content continually expanding. Furthermore, mainstream music video programs such as
MTVU’s The Freshmen as well as Closed Circuit programmers continue to expose audiences to a potential
crossover artist, widening the artist’s reach and thus becoming a vital part of both emerging and established
artists’ marketing campaigns. Videos can now reach consumers on virtually any level – while watching TV on the couch, surfing the web on
their computer, shopping at the local mall or even standing in line for a cup of coffee. And with each music
video essentially acting as a 3-4 minute commercial for the artist’s product, the potential “media value”
obtained by multiple spins from 25 National/Multi-Regional outlets, 20+ major Internet websites, 86 Regional
programs including crossover and specialty outlets, 15 Video Pool/Closed Circuit providers, 21 International
outlets and a number of Specialty/Crossover placement programs is astounding. In today’s fast paced world, it is hard to get consumers to really connect with a product in a short amount of
time. The ability to present an artist's image directly to the consumer along with their music is one of the
strongest ways to make a lasting impression.
