MAIN OBJECTIVE OF HERDER’S PROJECT:
A. Establish better Relationship between local
herder’s and mining and its support services
companies
B. To encourage value addition to the food
producers in rural areas so that livestock
owners get better income and avoid wastage
of byproducts of slaughterhouses
B. To ensure hygiene in meat production from
herder’s to slaughterhouse, meat processing
and further to consumer table by establishing
cold chain and distribution
C. Minimize clandestine slaughter and provide
pollution free environment in the area
D. Sustainable development of meat supply from
organized sector at local level
Aden Services has been determined to challenge the following obstacles affecting its procurement of
meat for their needs from local area of operation. They are:
1. Current local production and supply cannot adequately
provide increasing demand on domestic market. There
are no facilities comply with Mongolian or International
standards to supply Aden Services.
2. Certified meat producers are concentrated in the cities,
for services such as slaughtering, processing, storing and
transporting, in addition to that stakeholders in meat
market have weak link with each other and they are often
in shortage of required information.
3. This area has been affected by foot and mouth disease
early this year 2014, and low volume in livestock.
4. Resources nationalist and other movements against
uranium deposits are creating negative affect for meat
sector and companies, thus affecting the cooperation for
this Project.

OPERATIONAL STAGES OF THE PROJECT
Selection of the livestock, Price Negotiation and the delivery to designated spot
Livestock Identification and preparation for transport
Livestock transportation to Slaughterhouse
Byproducts realization and sending Carcasses to Meat Processing Facility
Sending Samples to SCVL for heavy metals test
Control of meat cutting, packaging and blast freezing process
Delivery meat products to the site
Send Report of Completion to the Client
*50% paid remaining payment within 7 Days of completion
All certificates from the veterinary services of the region
TOTAL PROCURED LIVESTOCK FROM THE AREA:
9 Cattle and 200 sheep from 13 Families of the Argalant and Bayannogd sums
•
To provide analyzes on heavy metal, we made
sample among the animals: 1 animal from each
herders, which is sufficient representative to
indicate any possible contamination of all the
heard of a single family, as they are grazing and
drinking together.
•
To identify from which herdsmen the animal
come from, we made identification marks on
different parts of the animal on their body.
The number of heads per truck was estimated by Australian Livestock Transportation requirements:

ADEN Services submitted to conduct 4 heavy metals test to the SCVL (Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic and
Selenium), however the lab was not able to conduct tests on Arsenic and Selenium. The results of
the Lead and Cadmium showed very low in (ppm) for those heavy metals and certified safe for
human consumption.

[A] Total additional cost compared to normal :
Price discrepancy during livestock purchasing. Livestock price in the region of the camp is much
higher than in other regions of the aimag.
No reactive (chemical to make analyzes) in the Central Veterinary Laboratory, therefore we could
not analyze content of Arsenic and Selenium in the meat.
Hygiene issues in the slaughterhouse: ADEN Services resolved it by providing PPE’s such as
aprons, cloves, and hygiene products, and by controlling whole slaughtering process.
From the actual figures we can see that additional cost was higher then estimated, due to
outcome of the meat weight after the cutting (removing the bones and other unusable part of the
carcass) was lost almost 1 ton.
Aden Services successfully completed the
Herder’s Project, thus held BBQ Event at the
Dulaan uul Camp site for the client. Attendees
of this event were:
 15 Guest of Areva (Mitsubishi
representatives), and Areva top
management from France, including
CEO of AREVA Mongol
 102 Camp Residents
 21 Aden Staff and BDM Aden Services
