The highest level of certification,
internationally recognised
FSC-CoC (Forest Stewardship Council - Chain of Custody)
upholds 10 demanding principles of forest management and
57 criteria which treat the different questions concerning forest
management, community respect, the rights of Nations and
workers, and the impacts on the environment. The FSC norms
monitor forestry exploitations and make sure that the land is
exploited in a spirit of regeneration and durability. A Chain
of Custody certificate and FSC certified plywood give the
assurance that the products conform to FSC rules.

The PEFC certification (Programme for the Endorsement of
Forest Certification) ensures that raw material comes from
forests where the owners respect the rules of responsible

Keuringsbureau Hout). This certification is a well known

California Air Resources Board
recommendations
Confronted with the problem of formaldehyde, the Californian
government defined the rules in order to limit the formaldehyde
emissions in wood-based panels. California Air Resources
Board (CARB) laid down 2 thresholds of formaldehyde emission
(Phase 1 and Phase 2) and also defined a ULEF (Ultra Low
Emitting Formaldehyde) classification for panels emitting
quantities systematically inferior to the minimum threshold.

Used in the most remarkable constructions, Joubert garant is a benchmark product
in the building industry. It is perfectly adapted to long-term exposure to bad
weather conditions and therefore used for example for façades or house soffits.
The natural appearance of the wood combined with a careful mastering of a paint
or wood stain colour make Joubert garant the benchmark product for construction
and architecture for individual or collective apartment buildings.
Its resistance to bad weather conditions, its dimensional stability and
its easiness to machine has proven Okoumé sélection to be a product
which is particularly valued in exterior joinery. It is Okoume throughout,
and its interior cores are selected with the greatest care. It adorns the
façades and is also very competitive in industrial production. It is important
that this product is installed as per the rule book for maximum durability.

Joubert poprimed is designed for interior uses: fittings, furniture,
joinery and decoration. This pre-painted poplar throughout plywood
is valued for its lightness. Joubert poprimed is covered with an
80 micron white water-based primer paint with low VOC content.
Joubert poprimed only needs a final coat of paint
after a slight sanding for an impeccable finish.

Joubert primed is an Okoume throughout pre-painted panel which is ultra smooth

The high-quality Okoume panel is covered on 2 faces with a 280 g/m² melamine film
ready to be painted. A semi-finished panel which allies stability, resistance and
performance for exterior applications in construction, both in individual housing and
public buildings. The white melamine film is a permanent undercoat which requires
a light sanding before finishing and which allows great time saving and consequently
a reduction in the paint used.

Selected plies - Structure and fittings in nautical construction
An Okoume throughout plywood panel with selected cores and in compliance with
the British norm BS 1008-1:2003 Lloyd’s Register Type Approved, Marine ply is
recommended for nautical construction and boat furnishings. It has a wonderful
lightness and an excellent resistance to damp conditions (Class 3 gluing) which
enables it to meet the specific demands of naval construction.
It can also be used for interior furnishings thanks to its numerous finishing
possibilities. It can be used in structure, for example for the making of ship hulls,
often with the use of fibre glass and epoxy resin.
Super marine ply combines the same qualities and high performance as
Marine ply plus an aesthetic of the edges once in place, thanks to its
composition of thin ply. Super marine ply, designed for nautical construction,
is perfectly adapted to prolonged exposure to bad weather conditions and
to water. The panels comply to the BS 1008-1:2003 norm, the Lloyd’s
Register Type Approved.

Joubert rubberplex is intended for use in a sheltered exterior environment
or humid interior environment as a non-structural component.
Joubert rubberplex is a composite plywood panel which combines Okoume
face veneers - for excellent cutting and machining characteristics - and a central
rubber core for sound and thermal insulation. Joubert rubberplex can be used for
flooring, partition walls and bulkheads in order to
insulate and/or soundproof all interior rooms.

two 0.3 mm aluminium cores. The Joubert aludoor panel is designed
for door manufacturing. The aluminium sheet acts as a barrier to

THE EUROPEAN UNION
TIMBER REGULATION
1. Prohibits the placing on the EU market for the first time
of illegally harvested timber and products derived from
such timber.
More than just raw material, wood is our story. It’s the
reason why Joubert Plywood is committed to producing
plywood which comes from well managed forests, legal
wood.
2. Requires EU traders who place timber products on the
EU market for the first time to exercise “due diligence”.
3. Obliges traders to keep records of their suppliers and
customers in order to facilitate the traceability of timber
products.
DUE DILIGENCE:
The EUTR calls for due diligence from those who put
timber or derived products on the European market.
This concept of due diligence is defined as “a system of
measures and procedures to minimise the risk of placing
on the domestic market illegally harvested wood and its
derived products”.

SCOPE/ PRODUCTS COVERED
LEED® is a set of green building standards developed by
the US Green Building Council. There are multiple
categories with points available for various green building
techniques and material usage. By accumulating points,
projects can qualify for varying levels of LEED® Certification.
Points are scored by satisfying the requirements of each
credit within a given category.
The regulation came into force on March 3rd 2013.
Timber and timber products covered by valid FLEGT
or CITES licenses are considered to comply with the
requirements of the Regulation.

It applies to both imported and domestically produced
timber and timber products.
Joubert’s plywood, certified CARB ULEF, ensures
formaldehyde emissions which are particularly low, close
to those of natural wood.

The implementation of this system requires to carry out
field checks and to collect information on the country, the
harvest region and the concession, the quality of the
supplier, the impact of the exploitation….
The Regulation covers a broad range of timber products
including solid wood products, flooring, plywood, pulp
and paper. Not included are recycled products, as well as
printed papers such as books, magazines and newspapers.
It’s with this in mind that Joubert Plywood wanted to certify
its range of plywood CARB ULEF, the most stringent
international certification in terms of formaldehyde
emission levels. CARB (California Air Resources Board) sets
out new limits of formaldehyde emissions for wood-based
products (chipboard, MDF and plywood).
Thanks to FSC certified woods and CARB ULEF, JOUBERT
plywood can contribute to LEED® points in the following
categories:
• Certified wood (Materials & Resources Credit 7)
• Low-Emitting Materials, Composite Wood (Indoor
Environment Quality Credit 4.4)
WHAT DOES FSC MEAN TO LEED®?
The U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design (LEED®) program encourages
environmentally responsible forest management and
gives preference to FSC certified wood for green building
projects by giving “certified wood credit” (Materials &
Resources Credit 7).
By using FSC certified wood, people involved in LEED®
projects are contributing to a growing green building
movement and have an answer to “Where does my wood
come from?”. You can only answer that question if you are
specifying, purchasing, and building with FSC certified wood.
WHAT DOES CARB ULEF MEAN TO LEED®?
California Air Resources Board (CARB) is restricting allowable
formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products.
The LEED® program aims at reducing the quantity of
indoor air contaminants that are odorous, potentially
irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of
installers and occupants and therefore gives preference
to low-emitting materials (Indoor Environment Quality
Credit 4.4) for green building projects.
By being the first producer of OKOUME Plywood certified
CARB ULEF, JOUBERT is a pioneer in environment
protection and cares about the health and comfort of its

The treatment used by Joubert Plywood is approved in countries which are facing high termite
activity like Australia and comply with Australian Standard 1604. The Australian timber
preservation standards specify treatments intended to protect timber in service in Australia
from local species of decay organisms and insect pests. In addition, Okoumé plywood
made by Joubert was tested in a non-choice termite test according to the Standard AWPA
E1-97 where all specimens achieved the test result “sound”. The termite species
Reticulitermes santonensis, which was used for this test method, is mainly responsible for
the damage of structural timber in France and Southern Europe.

PACKING
STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
• Protected from humidity and temperature variations.
• In temperate premises.
• No contact with the ground.
• When the crates are stocked in a pile, the battens must
be carefully aligned with regular spacing.
• Position the lateral battens at least 10 cm from the edge
of the crate, and the same on the shelves or on storage
platforms.
• Panels of a small thickness must be positioned flat and
directly on top of a panel of a large thickness.
• On the shelves, the piles must be perfectly centered
in relation to the support arms, and these support arms
must be strictly level and the lateral ones positioned
at least 10 cm from the edge of the crate.
• For the 250 x 122 cm size, at least 3 battens must be used.
• For the 310 x 153 cm size, at least 4 battens must be used.
• If the panels have to be stocked temporarily outside,
the piles must be covered with a waterproof cover
which is vapour permeable.
