Look forward to an interesting and diverse golf course with unique panoramic

In 2003 the GC Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee
hosted the “Golf European Challenge
Tour” for the first time. Your round
starts with a very selective, 490 metre
opening hole. This is followed by the
most difficult hole of the course: par 4,
414 metres. The unique sixteenth hole
(par 3), known as the “Mouse Trap”,
incorporates a small ravine. When

too surprised if you hear a local player
referring to the “twentieth hole” – they
mean the Schwarzsee Lake which is
perfect for sunbathing and a refreshing
swim after a hard round. NEW from

in 2006 in the grounds of Kapser Castle.

Legendary game.
When in 1744 a group of sporting gentlemen formed “The Honourable Company
of Edinburgh Golfers” on the Northern coast of Scotland, no one had any idea
what it would lead to. Almost 270 years later, golf is well-established well beyond
the borders of Scotland – and is one of the reasons for Kitzbühel’s reputation as
the most legendary sporting town in the Alps.
An old legend has it that, long before
the first golf club was founded, Scottish
shepherds used to kick small round
stones into mouse holes out of boredom – an anecdote that has been
related over and over again between
first tee and 19th hole for nearly three
centuries now. However, it is generally acknowledged that the roots

of the game go back even further.
Thanks to pioneering regions such
as Kitzbühel, golf enjoys great popularity in continental Europe. With
the opening of the first golf course
in Kitzbühel on 30 July 1955 and the
city’s first tournament a year later,
the game had conquered the Alpine
region.
New momentum was gained in 1988
and 1999 when the 18-hole courses
were built at the golf clubs Kitzbühel
Schwarzsee and Eichenheim. Against
the impressive Alpine backdrop between the Hahnenkamm and Wilder
Kaiser mountains, Kitzbühel has established itself as the Alps’ centre of
golfing.

The highlight of the Kitzbühel golf calendar. During the summer on the “Streif
Attack” numerous sports stars and amateurs conquer the legendary Streif and
battle it out for the win. Every year over 500 participants gather in Kitzbühel.
The eleventh festival will be taking place from 23 until 30 June 2013.
The week of the Golf Festival is by far
the most popular golfing week in the
