would copy all the moves he saw on TV ... When the 1998 World
Championships were held in in Minneapolis, his mom took him out
of first grade all week and they watched every event ... Began

Halverson’s family has been a foster family for displaced dogs until
a “forever home” can be found ... He and his brother, Ian, 17, were
born in Bogota, Colombia, while his sister was born in Asuncion,
Paraguay ... All three were adopted separately as infants, and his
mother spent nine weeks in Colombia awaiting a judge’s signature

Goal for the season is to be the World champion ... Weir began skating at
age 12 after watching Oksana Baiul on television ... He tried out the jumps
himself on roller skates in his family’s basement ... His first venture onto the
ice occurred one harsh winter when the corn field behind his house froze
over and he skated between the frozen corn stalks ... Participated in the U.S.
Figure Skating Basic Skills Program in 1996 ... Skated with coach Priscilla Hill for
10 years... Recently changed coaches to Ukrainian Galina Zmievskaya who
also coached 1992 Olympic champion Victor Petrenko ... In his first year of
skating, he made the Junior Olympics in both freestyle and pairs (with Jodi
Rudden) on the juvenile level ... Was in first place following the short program
of the 2003 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships but injury forced him
to stop skating in the middle of the free skate and withdraw from the event ...
Qualified for the 2004 Grand Prix Final but withdrew due to a sprained foot ...
