2014-2015 ANNUAL REPORT
The club has had another successful year and it is
because of the involvement of quite a few members who
volunteer their time and talents to help the club prosper.
QHMC rep ................................Graham Allum
Our swap meeting was well run and every year we do
a little fine tuning to make things better. We now have
to look into site holders insurance. A decision was made
not to change the days of the swap.
Webmaster ...................................Ebony Allum
The number of events this club attends has had a
dramatic jump this year.
Swap Manager .................................Alan Lowe
The ceiling in the old meeting room has been repaired,
painted and new lights added and volunteers are going
to redo the lower portions of the walls.

the classic car garden tours during the Carnival of

from the Cobb & Co Museum. Insurance would prevent
members accepting a fee for the use of their cars but
reimbursement would be made to cover fuel costs. A

Harry spoke about the All British Day that is coming
up in Brisbane in September. After the meeting it was
ascertained that this event is on 20 September. Agreed
that the “Cruise to Crows” car show at Crows Nest
showgrounds on 15 August 2015 be listed as a club
endorsed event.
Ebony Allum spoke about what she is planning for the
DDVVMC 45th Anniversary rally. After discussing the
options it was agreed that the rally be a 3 day event
(Friday18 to Sunday 20 September), with the likely
program being a run to Jondaryan Woolshed on Friday
(lunch at the Woolshed), Carnival car show on Saturday,
dinner and movies at the club house Saturday evening
and a gardens tour on Sunday.
George Wilkinson spoke about the Wallangarra train
trip on 29 August. 74 member bookings have been
received and George asked any other members wanting
to go, attend to their booking tonight before the
remaining seats are offered to non-club members. Seats
are limited to 90 and George has 11 non-club members
on the waiting list. We need to be at Warwick by 7.30am

new lights.
4. Management Committee nominations – President
Trevor reminded members that nominations for 2015-16
Management Committee positions need to be submitted
to the Secretary by 1 August 2015.
5. Swap Insurance – President Trevor reported that
some large swap operators have had an insurance
condition imposed on them which requires every site
holder to have public liability insurance. The only
workable option is for the swap operator to arrange
blanket insurance cover and to add the cost onto the
swap site fee. This is a matter that needs to be kept
under watch for our swap.
6. Carnival of Flowers Car Show – Moved by Ebony
Allum, seconded by Harry Brazier that DDVVMC run
the 2016 Carnival of Flowers car show and that the
public liability insurance invoice received from AON to

August. Elisabeth will send out a reminder letter to
those members whose 2015-16 membership fees remain
unpaid.
Librarian: George advised that he has undertaken a
clean-up in the library to make some space and in doing
so had located quite an amount of obsolete material,
such as old swap booking sheets that extend back
several years. As these materials no longer have any
relevance, George suggested they be destroyed. Moved
by Harry Brazier, seconded by Elisabeth Shepherd that
the obsolete material stored in the library be destroyed.
Carried. Len Richardson volunteered to incinerate the
documents concerned.
Harry Brazier has donated two workshop manuals for
the club library collection (FX to HR Holden and Toyota

QR Code eTicketing system for public admissions to the

Alan Lowe that the quote of $1,429 be accepted. Carried.
The system uses PayPal as the payment gateway and
a decision was deferred as to whether or not the club
will absorb the PayPal fees. Two laptops will probably
be required to operate the system and Elisabeth will
enquire if these can be rented from IT Solutions. Two
smart phones will also be needed to operate the system.
5. Member Admission Requirements – George
Wilkinson enquired if a prospective member in Brisbane
who has attended club rallies but who has been unable
to attend a club meeting could be admitted as a member.
Agreed that the Club’s policy of prospective members
first attending both a meeting and an event needs to be
observed.
There being no further business the meeting closed at
7.55 pm.
Jim Beh: Secretary
Alan Hoffmann: President
Rally director: Harry goes into hospital shortly for
knee surgery and expects to be laid up for some time
afterwards. Ebony spoke about the 45th Anniversary

LOTS OF UNCLES PRESENT AT THE BIRTH

ENGLISH TO BE OFFICIAL EU LANGUAGE
The European Commission has just announced an
agreement whereby English will be the official language
of the European Union rather than German, which was
the other possibility.
As part of the negotiations, the British Government
conceded that English spelling had some room for
improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan
that would become known as “Euro-English”.
In the first year, “s” will replace the soft “c”. Sertainly,
this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard
“c” will be dropped in favour of “k”. This should klear up
konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.
There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond
year when the troublesome “ph” will be replaced with “f”.
This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.
In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling
kan be expekted to reach the stage where more
komplikated changes are possible.
Governments will enkourage the removal of double
letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate
speling.
Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent “e” in
the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.
By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as
replasing “th” with “z” and “w” with “v”.
During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary “o” kan be dropd from
vords kontaining “ou” and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a
reil sensibl riten styl.
Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find
it ezi TU understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop

OLDEST MORRIS IN AUSTRALIA
LAST ONE!
Greg Hill, a friend of Pat’s from the VCCQ, has been
compiling a list of Qld veteran plates, but has only just
started the 300’s.
Our second daughter Kellie married Peter Horton on the
Gold Coast on July 4th.
While the club celebrated the President’s and WindUp
rallies, we were enjoying the wedding and after party.
This photo was taken at Cobb & Co. during the National
Veteran Rally in Toowoomba.
David & Karen Grant
The rally book for the Toowoomba National had no
Morris cars entered.
The Morris has been identified as an Oxford 1913 and is

last vehicles to roll out the door before the end came in
