CHOICE HOTELS INTERNATIONAL ®
Suburban Extended Stay Hotel
By Choice Hotels
The Suburban Extended Stay Hotel® brand, acquired by Choice Hotels® in 2005, is one of the largest chain of
franchised economy extended stay hotels in the United States. As a leader in the growing economy segment,
Suburban® is well positioned to participate in the expansion of the extended stay hotel market across the United
States, Canada and beyond. The attractive yet economically priced building prototype has demonstrated that it
has the potential to generate attractive returns with relatively low investment requirements.
Suburban Extended Stay Hotel offers guests the essentials of home at affordable prices. The 105
guestroom prototype is an interior corridor design utilizing a welcoming residential/apartment style of
architecture. The typical hotel is four stories high, wood framed, with a shingled roof and operable residential
style windows. Exterior wall surfaces are stucco or fiber-cement siding with brick accent features. A sign
tower is a distinctive hallmark feature of the brand. There are three standard guestroom types (single suite,
queen suite, double double) ranging in size from 255 to 315 square feet, permitting each location to offer the
appropriate mix of rooms for a specific market. One-bedroom suites are an available option.
Flexibility is a hallmark of the Suburban prototype. Adaptable to virtually any market size, the plans are
designed to provide maximum flexibility, enabling the franchisee to modify the hotel to serve the needs of
the local market. The number of guestrooms are readily adjusted by extending, reducing or adding to the
guestroom wings; while the guestroom types are easily mixed and matched to obtain the optimal room mix
for each market. Additional design flexibility is found in the public space area where optional
exercise and meeting rooms can be included.
All Suburban guestrooms feature well-equipped kitchens including two-burner cook top, refrigerator/freezer,
microwave, coffeemaker, dishes and cookware. Highlighted amenities in every room include an
upholstered lounge chair, built-in work surface/dining table with two chairs, enclosed closet, flat panel television
with premium cable service and free high-speed internet connection. A selection of attractive décor schemes are
available at no charge to the licensee. To accommodate the needs of our extended stay guests, a spacious guest
laundry facility is provided in every Suburban Extended Stay Hotel.
This brochure contains the Suburban prototype design, including site plan,
two floorplan options, exterior elevations with four color options and
enlarged guestroom layouts.
Choice Hotels International® has developed an exceptional set of resources,
operational systems and marketing programs to help you develop and maintain the
best hotel for your unique needs. We offer project development assistance
at no cost to the franchisee through our design, project management
