The Typhoon Story
We started our journey as a small company with a simple
philosophy, to bring Asian products to a British market.
Even back then, it was clear to us, good design shouldn’t
cost the earth, and so Typhoon was born. Design led
kitchenware at affordable prices. Simple!
Our travels have taken us far and wide, from developing nations to the
fashion capitals of the world. In every corner of the globe there is a gem
of an idea that needs a bit of Typhoon love and attention.
On our journey we’ve met a lot of enterprising people who have had the
resources, staff and the right social and environmental credentials to help
us produce our products. Watching our partner factories grow and develop
gives us a huge sense of pride and achievement. So when new resources are
needed, we are always happy to help and invest.
After some time our local retailers noticed that the very clever population
of Great Britain liked what they saw, they started buying into our ranges
and asking for the product by name. Our idea was working, people wanted
well-crafted scales and colorful well-proportioned storage jars with a
vintage feel. All the while we were building up a vibrant and talented bunch
of designers and product developers. Some straight out of college and
some of the old guard who just know good design when they see it.
With passion pepped with innovative thinking we started developing more
products for a wider market.
Soon the phone was ringing and our computers were buzzing from potential
customers all around the world. It seemed our simple philosophy resonated
with retailers far and wide. Our little idea had just gone global...
Now it was clear to us that in order to make our products affordable
worldwide, we had to think a little differently, so we opened a warehouse in
Asia and one in the US. This would help us cut down freight costs and speed
up delivery times, something everyone wanted.

The Oprah magazine).
Unbeknownst to us, magazine editors and TV stylists were starting to
take notice of our brand and products. We started getting a lot of editorial
coverage from leading magazines and newspapers. They were trialling and
testing our products against our peers in the industry with great results.
Most exciting of all, our products were making it on the best food
programmes on TV. We were very excited.
Back in the IT world it seems they weren’t just telling us to turn our
computers off and on again, but busy building the networks to help us
communicate to the world. It is now shaping our consumers purchasing
behaviour and not wanting to be left behind, we created a consumer facing
website. A window for our products and ideas to the world, no retail prices,
just support and information for all our loyal customers who stock our
products and take the message to customers at Point of Sale.
Even more surprising has been the pace of change in electronic media.
Blogs, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and the new highly influential (and much
loved within Typhoon), Pinterest. Teens and young adults are showing us
the way forward, they don’t want to read copious notes on how to do
something, they aren’t going to be simply press-ganged into buying things.
They like honest recommendations, reviews and simple videos. They want to
cook, experiment and try things out. We’re listening by the way, we’ve heard
it loud and clear, Go Viral or Go home.
And so from a little bamboo seed of an idea, and over a period spanning
20 years, Typhoon has chartered the waters of housewares in the UK and
beyond. Most exciting of all is the future, new products, new ideas, new
technologies, new customer behaviour, new interaction with the allimportant consumer who will always have the final say. One thing on our
journey has always remained the same and is at the heart of everything we
do... Design led kitchenware at affordable prices. Simple!

a clear and simple way to measure and read food and liquid measurements at a quick glance.
With precision-weight measurement, the scales accurately weigh in kg/g and Ib/oz. In addition
the scale has an aquatronic function for measuring fluids in ml and fl oz. The add-and-weigh
function offers the benefit of weighing multiple ingredients in one bowl. The easy-to-read
display is controlled by the soft-touch keypad, which also features low battery and overload
indicators. After 60 seconds of inactivity, the scale will automatically turn off. The large high
