Dear Friends and Families of TCRC
Welcome to the Fall, 2015 Newsletter. As all of you follow the news, you understand
the uncertainties at the state level and the lack of a budget through the first third of the
fiscal year. Non-profits are feeling this effect all over the state and are running their own
“call to action” campaigns to solicit donations to keep them afloat in these troubled
times. TCRC is no different and I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support
over the last couple of months. If you haven’t had the opportunity to donate, there is still
time.
The changes we are making programmatically will set us up for the future and help us to
remain the provider of choice for families and their loved ones. Our curriculum based
Day Training is very focused and has transformed the workshop into a true “teaching
environment”. The opportunities we are able to provide through community integration
and hands on projects have allowed us to grow to serve more individuals in Day Training
then ever before.
As always, your help is greatly appreciated in regards to marketing our programs and
services. Whether you know of a business who needs mailings completed, packaging
work, or services from the “Taste of TCRC” Kitchen, please keep us in mind as we
strive to achieve our mission of Caring for Special People…….Birth to Seniors.

The Push for Community Employment
All across the country, the DD field is making huge strides on community
integration for individuals with disabilities. We understand the challenges that we
face for this push in the Central Illinois economy. With Caterpillar layoffs and State
mandates and uncertainties, it continues to be very difficult to find employment for
individuals with disabilities.
TCRC is committed to this challenge and will work hard to partner with local
businesses to give our individuals a chance. We already have great relationships
with businesses such as Hopedale Medical Complex, Holiday Inn, Wal-Mart and
Kroger, but we are striving to “corner the market” and obtain employment for
our individuals all over Tazewell County.
We are using an approach that combines speaking engagements at local service
clubs with individual visits and will continue to work hard to prove that everyone
deserves a chance to work and earn a paycheck.
You can help! If you are aware of any openings in the community or you know
managers of local businesses, please send them our way. Together, we can make a
dream a reality for individuals who want to work in our community.

Thank You to the CAT Foundation!
A big Thank You goes out to the Caterpillar Foundation, who has chosen to
support TCRC’s Community Employment Program with a $35,000 Grant!
This grant will help to keep individuals employed in our “Enterprise
Programs” like Janitorial Services and the Taste of TCRC Café.
Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins
Once again, the Taste of TCRC was involved in the Morton Pumpkin Festival as we
baked 1,540 pies!
TCRC is proud to have this opportunity to showcase what we can do and to
continue in providing opportunities to people with disabilities. We also had a
presence on the parade route as we sold pumpkin donuts through our satellite
stands and volunteers. Thank you to Morton Chamber of Commerce for another
great opportunity!

WHAT IS YOUR LEGACY?
…Create a lasting gift for TCRC
The programs and services at TCRC depend on many different avenues of
revenue. A gift from your estate will help TCRC continue our mission for many
years to come. It doesn’t matter how wealthy you are, leaving a gift is very easy. Small or large bequeaths are
all important to our mission. There are many ways that you can give.
Did you know with a planned gift, you can:

Take care of the financial needs of your family first

Provide inheritances for your heirs at a lower tax cost

Reduce your income tax and even avoid capital gains taxes

“Remembering Allison”
In late September, TCRC lost long time resident Allison Simmons. Al was a member of our Bloomington
Road CILA, and had lived with the TCRC family for 31 years. Al was a part of three CILA moves while at
TCRC as they upgraded facilities. He began his tenure in 1984 at Chillicothe CILA, moved to Chestnut
CILA in Morton in 1997 and then moved into Bloomington Road CILA in 2008. Al loved music, television,
and claimed himself as being a “Ladies Man”. Al’s favorite actor was John Wayne, his favorite place to go to
was K-Mart, and he had a passion for Steak-n-Shake. Al will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
