Welcome to the Engadine Golf Club!
It is our privilege to welcome the best senior amateur players to our club and we are
honoured to host the 3rd Int. Swiss Senior Amateur Championship in 2016.
To play at the ENGADINE GOLF CLUB means to play golf at 1‘800 m above sea level in a
breath taking alpine setting and in one of the most beautiful valleys that exist. It means also to
play golf on club’s historical site of Samedan Golf Course, founded in 1893 and therefore the
oldest golf club in Switzerland. As of this year, you will also have the privilege to play our second
course, Zuoz-Madulain, only ten years young but already an alpine gem!
We wish that you will find and enjoy at our club what we try to preserve as the most
precious value of our heritage and tradition: the joy of golf!

3rd Int. Swiss Senior Amateur
Championship 2016
Competition The Championship will be played over 54 holes single stroke play over 3 days
(Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday) without a cut. The competition is limited to 120
participants and the max. exact handicap will not exceed 12.0
The Championship is open to male amateur golfers 50 years and over (date of
birth must be before the first day of the competition), as defined by the current
Rules of Amateur Status. All competitors must be members of a golf club which
itself is a member of its national federation/union/association. The championship is
on the official waiting list to become part of the official World Amateur Golf Ranking
(WAGR)!

The entry fee for the Championship is CHF 200.00 per competitor and includes the
welcome cocktail, the official championship dinner and the farewell snack.

Engadine Golf Club - Short Introduction and Overview
The Engadin valley is located in the south eastern part of Switzerland and touches the Italian border.
Its main town St. Moritz is known world wide for being one of the finest and most prestigious tourism
locations. In 1893 British military officers together with local hotel owners founded the first golf club in
Switzerland and at this time, the club was only the seventh golf club to be founded on mainland
continental Europe. The club always attracted members from all over the world but also locals and up
until now has been known for its tradition.
The 18 hole, par 72 golf course of Samedan lies just 5 km outside of St. Moritz and was – by its British
founders – originally set up as close to a classical links course as possible for a golf course situated in
the middle of the Swiss Alps
As the response to golf in central Europe grew stronger over the past 20 years, a second course
nearby named Zuoz-Madulain Golf Course was built and finally inaugurated in the year
2003. The spectacular but typical mountain course is set up as a 18 hole, par 72 championship course
and offers fine and demanding golf combined with breathtaking views in the midst of the alpine
surroundings of the Engadin valley.
Today the two golf courses are highly appreciated by over 1’300 members (including a strong junior
program of close to 200 juniors) of the Engadine Golf Clubs and their guests. The altitude of 1’800
meters above sea level limits the golfing season to a short period of only six months (May through
October).
