Building on the success
of the last 15 years, the Kings
Theatre’s Big Project is a programme
of restoration and development of both
its buildings and programme including:
◆ New loos!
◆ take a seat!
Edwardians did not place much importance on
toilets. We need more toilets and to refurbish
existing facilities. Thanks to your support this project
is now underway!
Humans are much taller than they were 100
years ago so we need wider seats with more
leg room to make your visit more comfortable!
This phase of the project will happen between
2017 and 2018.
• Physical improvements: modern toilets,
better seating, new foyers, bigger bars and
lift access
• Restoration: renovating the building in
keeping with its heritage
• Education: opportunities for apprenticeships,
school workshops, work placements and a
home for the Kings Youth Theatre
• Community: space for artists in residence,
exhibition programmes and community events
• Business: drawing in visitors from across
the region to improve and regenerate the
local economy

◆ education
& community
Whilst retaining and protecting the Edwardian features and charm that led to the Kings Theatre being
named ‘a theatre of national architectural importance’ by the Theatres Trust, The Big Project will create
new opportunities for everyone to enjoy.
The Kings has always been about people. The Big
Project will build on our talks, tours, workshops and
events for people of all ages to enjoy.
We will create community spaces, exhibition areas,
rehearsal and performance spaces.
Support us in our ambitious plans to build an exciting and sustainable future for the Kings Theatre!

Please refer to show information for
available concessions. Proof of
entitlement to concessions may be
required.
Children pay full rate unless a concession
rate or ‘Babes in Arms’ rate is stated
which allows under 2 year olds to sit
on an adult’s lap (this is not
bookable online).
Please check show information for any
age restrictions.
Children under 12 must be accompanied
by someone aged 16+. Children aged
between 13 and 16 may attend
unaccompanied but must state this when
purchasing tickets and make themselves
known to staff on arrival at the theatre.
No responsibility is accepted by the
theatre or any of its employees for
unaccompanied children.
Please contact Box Office for details of
Carer concessions.
PAYMENT AND FEES
We accept the following methods
of payment:
◆ Cash
◆ Credit/Debit Cards
◆ Kings Theatre Gift Vouchers
We are in the process of changing our
ticket pricing to a system where the price
you see advertised is the price you will
pay and includes all fees. The changeover
is a gradual process so in this brochure
some prices will be advertised as
including fees and some will be
advertised as excluding fees. Where fees
are excluded a 6% booking fee (capped
at £10) will be added to your booking –
in the same way it has been before.
Our fees cover all the costs associated
with processing your booking and also
a Building Improvement Fund charge
(applies to shows at the theatre only)
which goes towards improving our
beautiful Grade II* listed building and
future development in our Big Project.
GROUP BOOKINGS
Discounts are available for groups of 10+
on many of our shows. Please call 023
9285 2232 or email groups@
kingsportsmouth.co.uk for more
information or to book. Group bookings
may also pay by BACS or cheque.
ACCESSIBILITY
We are committed to improving
accessibility for all of our patrons. We have
wheelchair and level access via Albert Rd
entrance and provide wheelchair spaces in
the Stalls. An accessible toilet and bar are
located at the rear of the stalls. You may
transfer from a wheelchair into a seat on
arrival as long as in the unlikely event of an
emergency you are able to exit the building
without the use of your wheelchair.
Unfortunately we can’t provide access for
mobility scooters. Infra red hearing systems
are available for Front Stalls and Dress
Circle areas, for those using a T position
hearing aid or with provided earpiece for
performances with amplified sound.
ENJOY THE
PERFORMANCE
If your performance falls outside of our
normal opening hours the Box Office will
open 90 minutes before and remain open
for 30 minutes beyond the show start time.
Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable
point but it may not be possible to seat you
in your allocated seat until the interval.
Some shows do not admit latecomers –
this is stated in the show information.
We have a number of bars where you can
purchase refreshments which open 1 hour
before the show start time. You may also
pre-order interval drinks. Plastic bottles
and glasses can be taken into the
auditorium. Our bars accept payment by
credit and debit cards – minimum £5
spend. No alcohol is permitted to be
brought onto the premises.
There is a no smoking policy throughout
the building which includes the use of
e-cigarettes.
