1. My major is communications and I plan to go to graduate school after
completing my undergraduate degree.
2. I am a first semester Senior and my estimated graduation date is the
end of fall 2013.
3. What I would like to learn in COMS 356 are the scholarly theories of
intercultural communications and how to apply them to my relations
with those outside of my own culture.
4. My interests are music, cooking, learning, exercise, and selected
programs on NPR, PBS, KCET, and the Comedy Channel. I also
enjoy a good movie now and then.
5. After successfully working fifteen years as a furniture salesman, I
recently made the decision to pursue a career as a teacher instead. To
do so, I have come back to college to complete my degree and will
then move on to graduate school to achieve my teaching credentials.
Also, I am a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served honorably from
1987 to 1991. Because of my position in the service, I was lucky
enough to travel to many foreign lands, including Hong Kong,
Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Hawaii, Australia, Africa, and
Japan, among others.
Solis, Cindy
1. Major/Career plans: I am a
junior at Cal State
Northridge and I am also a
member of the Educational
Opportunity program on
campus. I began my journey
at this university back in
summer 2010, with the goal
to pursue my degree in
communication studies. I
graduated from Palisades Charter High school, and after the Summer
Bridge transition program I was determined to work and begin a career
with Chase Bank. To this day, I am still employed by JP Morgan Chase
Bank and my opportunities with the company remain as an option.
2. Graduation dates: I graduated from Palisades Charter high school in the
summer of 2010. I began attending CSUN in the Fall 2010 thankfully
because of the Educational Opportunity program. I am expected to
graduate with a major in communication studies by no later than the spring
of 2015.
3. What I’d like to learn: I am interested in learning the fundamental ideas of
intercultural communication. I am also excited to learn and happy that I will
become more open minded about my peers thoughts and experiences
based on their own culture. I would also like to learn about what culture
means to the world as a nation and how we can overcome any differences
that may untangle in the future.
4. Interests/hobbies/passions: Learning new information, reading, poetry,
achieving tasks, meeting new people, road trips, concerts, music, dancing,
skateboarding, traveling, dog walking, hanging out with my loved ones and
friends.
5. Information about background, life, experiences: I was born at the
California hospital in Los Angles in the summer of 1992. I was raised by a
single-mother and I am also an only child. I have lived in California my
whole life and I plan to someday have my own family reside in California
also. I plan on working in the entertainment business where I will be able
to use my communication skills, as well as personality to make me
different and unique from other young entrepreneurs. What I plan to do
after my goals are achieved is to give back to my community and my
family who have supported me throughout all these years.

My major is accounting, and I am planning to obtain my CPA license as soon as I graduate from
California State University Northridge.
2. What is your estimated graduation date?
I estimated that I am going to graduate in Spring 2014.
3. What would you like to learn in Intercultural Communication?
I would like to learn in my Intercultural Communication class how to be a better public speaker.
4. What are your interests/hobbies?
My favorite sport is snowboarding. So whenever I have a chance, I like to go to lake Tahoe or
Mammoth lake to snowboard.
