Kent A. Hoggan, the developer of Fairway Springs Ski and Golf Villas, has an impressive background in property development, in and around Utah. He has built and developed 47
(8000 lots) subdivisions in Northern Utah, as well as 81 large (28,000 lots) subdivisions in California and Arizona. Currently, he has 76 lots fully developed in Mesquite, Nevada
and is building homes and developing 250 lots in Bakersfield, California
Kent is a developer, an entrepreneur and an inventor. In the early 1970’s, he built and operated 10 large 100 unit motels with restaurants in 7 western states and later sold the
chain to Ramada Inn. Kent then researched, bought and developed the largest irrigated farm/ranch in the Intermountain area and negotiated a contract to sell his cubed hay to
Mitsubishi Milk Corporation in Japan.
Kent’s international business background includes working in West Africa, Taiwan, Brazil, Israel, Japan and Peru. From 1981 to 1988, he worked with his father in West Africa
(Liberia) on a 200 square mile gold mining operation. He helped negotiate a 40 year mining concession with the Liberian Government and also negotiated with local tribes for
access to work areas and for construction of a base camp.
In the early 1970’s, Kent invented a carburetor called “The Variable Venture Carburetor”. He researched, developed, built and then sold it to Deer and Company in Moline,
Illinois. They then sold it to Chrysler and Chrysler manufactured the carburetor jointly with Mitsubishi Motors in Japan. He later invented the “Swing Bike” and spent 6 months
in Taiwan building a manufacturing plant for the production of the bike.
Branching out into the candy business in the late 1980’s, Kent and his partner developed a large candy company called Sweet Thanks. They learned from some of the best
at Hershey’s, Cadbury and Nestle’s and built the company to $12mm in sales annually within a year. Their buyers were Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Costco, Walgreen’s, 7 Eleven,
Albertsons, Smiths and many other large chains.
Kent’s extensive entitlement background led to an interest in the Alternative Energy Industry and his company, Eagle Energy, LLC, offers consulting and advice for Wind projects,
Geo Thermal projects and Solar projects. He has worked closely with Southern California Edison, P G & E, San Diego Power, Pacific Corp. and many other power and utility
companies.
Kent is a community volunteer and was a Boy Scout leader for 18 years, a Youth Soccer Coach and co-chair of the Utah Cancer Annual Fund Raiser. He has served the
international community as well, doing missionary work in Ireland and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Humana, an organization for helping rural areas of Peru.
Currently, Kent has begun construction of 42 townhomes at Fairway Springs Ski and Golf Villas at Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah.
