Harris Teeter associates are the driving force behind this
company’s success and are empowered to identify and
exceed each customer’s expectation by owning and
immediately resolving customer problems, concerns or
questions. As we continue to face challenges and rise above
together, it is important our associates realize the amazing
things they continue to help this company achieve.
Harris Teeter had record setting sales during Christmas
2012. Thirty-nine stores set sales records and seven
departments set sales records, as well. Four stores did
over $1 million in sales. We realize these results cannot be
achieved without a lot of hard work, and during holiday
walks, our teams were thoroughly impressed with the
commitment we saw our associates making to deliver the
best service to our shoppers over the holiday season.
As we near the end of our first half, we must all
rededicate ourselves to delivering great customer
service every day. In addition, we will work toward
increasing customer count through e-VIC enrollment
and promotions with competitive prices.

Harris Teeter Taste & Tell Wins
Social Media Innovation Award
Harris Teeter launched its first Taste & Tell event in
August 2012. The program was a huge success and was
even recognized by Private Label Store Brands’ 2012
Store Brand Achievement Awards which salute retailers
for out-of-this-world innovation and creativity in the
store brand market. Harris Teeter won Best Use of Social
Media to Promote Store Brands.
Taste & Tell encourages customers to enter to win a
coupon for a free store brand product. Winners then are
encouraged to try the product and post their thoughts
on the “Taste and Tell” section of Harris Teeter’s
Facebook page.
A recent Taste & Tell promotion featured HT Traders Sir
Chocolot Truffle Cookies. These are delicious chocolate
cookies with an indulgent filling of caramel, peanut
butter or raspberry.

In February, the company hosted a Safe Driver awards
and their families.
It is a very dedicated and precise driver who

as his most important duty – even when
he’s off the clock. Recently, a customer
contacted Harris Teeter to compliment Sylvester for helping
her. She said Sylvester was leaving the store to go on
his lunch break when he saw her struggling to guide her
elderly mother as well as a cartload of groceries through
the store parking lot. Sylvester went out of his way to help
the women locate their vehicle and loaded it with their
groceries. Sylvester later stated he felt it was his duty as
an employee of Harris Teeter not to walk past the women
without offering assistance.
