All you need is the SSID and security key. Select Wi-Fi or Wireless & Networks from Settings on your mobile device. Make sure that the Wi-Fi setting is set to ON. Once your Wi-Fi is enabled you should see your Network SSID. Select your network and then type in your password. YOUR MEDIACOM EMAIL WHY DO I NEED A MEDIACOM EMAIL ADDRESS? Your Mediacom email address is required to access TV Everywhere programming, such as AMC®, Showtime Anytime® and HBO GO®. SM HOW DO I ESTABLISH MY MEDIACOM EMAIL ADDRESS? Go to www.mediacomtoday.com/registration and follow the instructions. All you need is your 16-digit account number. HOW DO I ACCESS MY EMAIL? Visit www.mediacomtoday.com and click on the Check My Email button in the quick links portion of the page or use an email client such as Windows Live to access email on a PC. CAN I CHANGE MY MEDIACOM EMAIL SETTINGS? You can change the settings from the Preferences tab. For additional information about each setting click the Help topic. HOW DO I GET MY MEDIACOM EMAIL ON MY MOBILE DEVICE? The instructions will vary depending on the type of mobile device you have; however, the information you will need to set your email is: • Username – Enter your Mediacom email address • Password – Enter your email account password • POP server – Enter the name of the secure email server: mail.mediacombb.net • Port – Enter the secure port number: 995 • Security type – Select the security: SSL (always) HOW DO I SET UP ONLINE SECURITY AND PROTECTION? Plus, your TiVo DVR connects to the internet, giving you access to thousands of On Demand movies and shows, Netflix , Pandora and much more! ® ® GETTING STARTED TiVo REMOTE To program your TiVo remote, press the TiVo logo button to go to the TiVo Central screen. Then select Settings & Messages, then Settings, then Remote, CableCARD & Devices, then Remote Control. Follow the easy on-screen instructions. TiVo – Takes you to the TiVo Central* screen for all TiVo features and settings. Live TV – Takes you to live TV or use it to cycle through the tuners. TV PWR – Turns TV on or off. Info – Shows info banner while watching TV. Press again to remove. Input – Selects input, such as TiVo box, DVD player, game system, etc. Zoom – Changes aspect ratio of shows on TV. Arrows – Navigate menus and program guide. Press left arrow to stop a recording and return to info screen. Select – Choose menu options or shows to record. Ch Up/Down – Change the channel or page up/down while in program guide or TiVo menu. Guide – Takes you to the guide to find shows to watch/record. Press twice for filtered views. Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down – Rate shows and collections for TiVo Suggestions. Vol/Mute – Control volume on your TV or A/V receiver. Play – Starts playing a show from My Shows list. Fast-Forward – Fast-forwards through a show. Press up to 3x for three speeds. Pause – Freezes show. Press again to resume watching. Rewind – Rewind show. Press up to 3x for three speeds. Advance – Moves forward in 30-sec increments. Press and hold to jump to end of the show. Slow – Plays show in slow motion. Replay – Repeats the last 8 seconds. Hold to jump to beginning of show. A, B, C, D – Sort and filter views - look for onscreen tips. Clear – Removes the display of the info banner or program guide and deletes titles from My Shows or To Do list. GET EASY ACCESS TO YOUR FAVORITE APPS NETFLIX If you have a Netflix account you can enjoy over 12,000 movies and TV episodes, streamed right to your TiVo® box! To start enjoying Netflix: ® 1.Press the Home button on the remote. 2.Select Apps & Games. 3.Select TV & Movies. 4.Select Netflix. 5.Select Sign In on the welcome screen. 6.Enter your Netflix email address and password. SPOTIFY® Spotify lets you listen to your favorites and discover new music anytime on demand. With your TiVo remote you can search albums, artists and over 30 million tracks. Even browse and play your playlists right from your TV. PANDORA® INTERNET RADIO Pandora is a free service that lets you create custom internet radio stations personalized just for you. Tell Pandora one of your favorite songs, artists, genres or composers, and it will create a radio station that explores that kind of music. Pandora plays all your current and old favorites and introduces you to new songs you’ll love. SEARCH TV, NETFLIX AND MORE ONEPASS SEARCHES: A smarter way to enjoy it all. Gather every episode of a series and add them to your My Shows list. If a show is not available on TV, OnePass ® will find them for you from On Demand or Netflix . Episodes are even organized by season. SEARCH AND WISHLIST ® SEARCHES: Find what you love to watch. From the TiVo Central screen, select Find TV, movies and videos, then select Search. Enter a few letters of the show title or an actor’s name, and the TiVo service searches for matches. Every time a show matches your criteria, it’s recorded for you. To locate your recorded shows, select WishList Saved Searches. DISCOVERY BAR: Get personalized recommendations. The Discovery Bar is the bar of images across the top of the TiVo Central screen and other menu screens. Often, the Discovery Bar displays ideas for shows you might like based on what shows you record and mark as your favorites. The Discovery Bar also displays lots of other great viewing options; popular shows or sports events that are playing on live TV, items from your My Shows list, TiVo Suggestions, new video on demand shows, and more! Press the UP arrow to move up to the Discovery Bar, then the LEFT and RIGHT arrows to move around. Select an image that interests you to learn more about that item. WATCH YOUR FAVORITES ANYTIME, ANYPLACE LIVE TV: Return to live TV at any time. When you’re watching a show as it’s broadcast, you’re watching live TV. Press the LIVE TV button to go to live TV from any TiVo® screen. MY SHOWS: All your recorded or downloaded programs. All of your recordings and streaming videos are found in the My Shows list. To get to the My Shows list from any menu screen or from live TV, just press the TiVo button twice. (Just press it once if you’re already on the TiVo Central screen.) You can also see the My Shows list from any other TiVo DVRs on your home network. Just press the DOWN arrow until you see the TiVo DVR you want. Highlight it and press the SELECT button to see that TiVo DVR’s My Shows list. GUIDE: Find out what’s on TV now or later! Press the Guide button to find what’s on right now, and what’s coming up. Use the arrow keys to move around the guide. Press FORWARD and BACK to move right or left one page at a time. Press ADVANCE to move 24 hours ahead and REPLAY to move 24 hours back. RECORD AND MANAGE WHAT AND WHEN YOU WATCH TiVo RECORDINGS: Watch your favorites on your time. Take advantage of the Remote Scheduling feature to find shows and schedule recordings online using a computer, tablet or smartphone. From your computer, go to www.tivo.com. Click the “Find TV Shows” tab, sign in, and select the TiVo DVR you want to receive the recording. Select the TV show you wish to record, choose a recording option, and your request will be sent! For detailed instructions, see tivo.com/remote scheduling. TiVo SUGGESTIONS: Record shows that match your preferences. You can rate any show — whether it’s live, recorded, or listed in the program guide — by pressing the THUMBS UP® or THUMBS DOWN® button. You can give a show up to three Thumbs Up (great!) or three Thumbs Down (terrible!). TiVo Suggestions uses these ratings to create a list of shows you might like. The more shows you rate over time, the better TiVo Suggestions will get at finding shows based on your interests. PARENTAL CONTROLS: Controlling access is easy. Parental Controls help you make sure your family has access to only those shows you want them to watch. Set limits on movie and television ratings, lock specific channels, and prevent viewing of recorded shows that violate the settings you choose. From the TiVo Central screen, choose Settings & Messages, then Parental Controls. GET THE TIVO APP ON YOUR ANDROID, iOS DEVICE OR TABLET FOR THE ULTIMATE REMOTE CONTROL ® Easily stream or download shows to your mobile device using the TiVo app! Your Mediacom ID (Mediacom email address) is required to access some TV Everywhere programming. To set up your Mediacom ID simply go to www.mediacomtoday.com/registration. ON DEMAND Watch over 20,000 titles of On Demand movies and shows. Start and stop shows on your schedule. Look for new titles added daily, including your favorite shows from NBC, FOX, AMC, Disney and more! When you have a subscription to a premium service such as HBO® and Showtime® you will receive access to its library of titles, including movies currently playing, new original programming, older episodes, and special features. Note: To use the app, you’ll need to make sure that the “Network Remote Control” setting is enabled on your box. From TiVo Central, select Settings & Messages > Settings > Remote, CableCARD, & Devices > Network Remote Control. ACCESSING ON DEMAND You can access On Demand programming by pressing the On Demand button on your remote or going to Channel 1. TV EVERYWHERE LETS YOU TAKE TV ON THE GO ORDERING ON DEMAND PROGRAMS The On Demand Menu displays categories of programming. Use the buttons on your remote to select a category and access listings. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your order. SM You now have access to full episodes of available shows, movies and live streaming programs as part of your boundary-free TV service. Mediacom’s TV Everywhere provides on-the-go access via any supported desktop, laptop or mobile device. To access the programs available through TV Everywhere, just go to WATCHING ON DEMAND PROGRAMS Use your remote to pause, fast forward, rewind and stop most programs. If you have stopped a program and want to come back to it later, select Recently Viewed from the On Demand Menu and highlight the selected title you’d like to resume. DIGITAL PHONE PHONE FEATURES Now that you have Mediacom’s digital phone service, you can call anywhere you want in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands at no extra charge. Plus, several free features are included! Please note that some features may not be available in all areas. VOICE MAIL Voice mail service allows you to avoid missing calls if you are on a call or away from your phone. Mediacom voice mail will record those messages to help keep you informed. A voice mailbox is typically associated with your telephone number. When your number is called and the line is busy or not answered, the caller hears an outgoing greeting recorded by you and is given instructions for leaving a message. When setting up your voice mail and accessing it for the first time, you must call from your home phone. During the set up process, you must enter a Pass Code by following these instructions: CALLER ID ON TV Caller ID on TV will display the listed name and number of the caller on your TV screen, if it is connected to the service. This feature can be turned off in the Comm Portal, if you desire. NOTE: Only available to TV customers with Video On Demand service. 1.Dial your own number, including the area code, press (*) when you hear the standard system greeting. 2.Follow the audio prompts to set up a Pass Code. SPEED DIALING Programs up to eight frequently called phone numbers as single digit numbers. 3.The new Pass Code must be between 4 and 10 characters and cannot be the last four digits of your phone number. 4.After setting up your Pass Code, you will be audio prompted to set up your Greeting. CALL WAITING Notifies you with a special tone when a second caller is trying to reach you. To disable call waiting on a call-by-call basis, press *70 before dialing your party. CALLER ID PER CALL BLOCKING Pressing *67 before you dial a number will block your caller ID from displaying your number for that call. CALLER ID – NAME AND NUMBER Displays the name and number of incoming calls. CALLER ID FOR CALL WAITING Displays the name and number of the caller who is waiting while you are currently on the phone. CALL FORWARDING To activate call forwarding, press *72. Dial the number to which you want to forward your calls. When you hear two beeps, call forwarding has been activated. To deactivate call forwarding, press *73. DO NOT DISTURB Do not disturb prevents incoming calls from ringing the phone. To activate press *78. To deactivate – press *79. CUSTOMER-ORIGINATED TRACE If you receive a threatening or harassing call, you can trace the call by pressing *57. You can then follow up with a local law enforcement agency for further action. ENHANCED EMERGENCY 911 Allows you to report emergencies. Where Enhanced 911 is available, your phone number, residential address and name are automatically forwarded to 911 during the call. TO ACCESS THE COMM PORTAL (PHONE PORTAL): Go to www.mediacomtoday.com, click on Customer Support and you will be able to remotely manage your phone features, voice mails and more. THREE-WAY CALLING A service that permits a three-way conference call. Because you initiated the call, if you hang up the call is terminated. HOW TO USE: 1. Place the person you are talking with on hold by pressing the receiver button (or the “flash” or “link button”) for one second. 2. A dial tone will follow. Call a second person. 3. When you get an answer, press the receiver button briefly again. All three of you now will be connected. When either of the people you called hangs up, you remain connected to the other person. (While you are using three-way calling, call waiting is unavailable.) If the call to the second person does not go through, press the receiver button (or “flash” or “link” button) twice. The person you have on hold will return to the line. SELECTIVE CALL FORWARDING When your service is turned ON and the caller is on your forward list, the call will be rerouted to your “forward-to” number. If the caller is not on your forward list, the call will ring at your home as usual. To set up selective call forwarding simply pick up the handset, listen for the dial tone, press *63 and follow the prompts. SELECTIVE CALL ACCEPTANCE When your service is turned ON, you’ll receive calls only from those on your acceptance list. Callers who are not on your list will hear an announcement that you are not accepting calls at this time. To set up selective call acceptance pick up the handset, listen for the dial tone, press *64, and follow the prompts. NOTES: You may press 1, 0, or * at any time rather than waiting for the voice instructions. A separate list is created for selective call forwarding, selective call rejection or selective call acceptance. SELECTIVE CALL REJECTION When your service is turned ON, callers who are on your rejection list will hear an announcement that your number is not accepting calls at this time. All other calls will ring through as usual. HOW TO USE: 1.Pick up the handset, listen for the dial tone and press *60. 2.Listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. Follow the voice instructions and press 3 to turn the feature ON (if it is currently off), or turn the feature OFF (if it is currently on). ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION Anonymous call rejection blocks calls from private or restricted phone numbers. To activate anonymous call rejection, press *77. Two beeps tell you anonymous call rejection is turned on. To turn off anonymous call rejection, press *87. ONLINE BILLING Register for My Account and get the flexibility and convenience of accessing your account anytime. View your bill, see recent account activity and make online payments, all from one location. You’ll also have the ability to set up billing preferences such as auto-pay and paperless statements. Registration is easy; all you need is a copy of your current bill. Cable modem. You have a problem if: • You can’t browse the internet. • It takes a long time for your computer to connect to the internet or can’t connect at all. • There has been a power outage. • You’re hooking up or unhooking a router in your wireless network. To reboot your cable modem: self-service and quick tips 1.Verify whether the modem has a battery backup. If there’s a battery, remove it. If there’s no battery, continue to step 2. GETTING YOUR CABLE TV PICTURE BACK TO NORMAL AND YOUR INTERNET BACK UP TO SPEED 2.Unplug the power from the modem. If the lights do not go off, there’s a battery in the EMTA. • The on-screen guide is showing only some channel information or none at all. 5. Wait at least 30 seconds. • The time on the interactive program guide is incorrect. • The picture is “tiling,” or breaking up into small squares. • There’s no sound, even when volume is turned up. If one of these issues applies to your situation, here’s what to do: 1.Unplug the set-top box’s power cord from the wall outlet or power strip, or unplug the power inlet on the back of box. 2. Wait 20 seconds. 3. Plug the power cord back in. The set-top box will then begin to cycle through its startup process, which may take a minimum of 20 minutes. (The TV guide information display will read “to be announced” during the cycle.) When it’s done, you should be reconnected. 3.If you’re using a router to link several computers, unplug the power cord from the router. 4. Shut down the computer. 6.Check the cables on the back of the modem, PC and router to make sure that everything’s securely connected. 7.Verify that the telephone cord is plugged into the port labeled Tel 1/2 or Tel 1 on the back of the modem. Do not use Tel 2. 8. Plug in only the modem’s power cord. 9.Wait until the modem has completed the startup process before proceeding. The lights will light up, go out, and come on one at a time. 10. Plug the power into the router. 11. Wait for the router to complete the startup process. 12. Start the computer. 13. If there’s a battery, reinstall it in the modem. If you’re still having problems connecting to the internet, not getting a dial tone, experiencing phone-related problems, or the lights on the modem aren’t coming on correctly, contact Mediacom’s Internet Technical Support.
