600 TEXAS QUILT MUSEUM, PAINTED CHURCH, & QUILT SHOPS TOUR
$125
Housed in two historic 1890s buildings, The Texas Quilt Museum
(www.texasquiltmuseum.org) provides a fine showcase for both antique
and contemporary quilt art with their high ceilings, brick walls, and original hardwood floors. The Quilted Skein (www.thequiltedskein.com) is
next door and housed in a 150-year-old building where guests will be
enveloped in color, hundreds of bolts of fabric, and an almost endless
array of yarn. Guests will also find delicious cuisine at Celebrations by
Bistro 108 (www.bistro108.com). The interior of the Wesley Brethren
Church was painted by Czech immigrant pastor and teacher, Reverend
Bohuslav Laciak in 1889. The community used the church as a schoolhouse where Laciak painted the ceiling while the children were learning.
Quilters Emporium (www.quiltersemporium.com) is a full-service quilt
store, offering over 4300 bolts of 100% cotton fabrics.
