The Jackson Family Farm spans five generations, over 100 years, and
thousands and thousands of gallons of milk. And today, the three living
generations of Jacksons are proud to continue and improve upon the dream
that began in Utah back in the late 1800s.
Thomas S. Jackson started Jackson Family Farms as a diversified farming
operation that included dairy cattle, beef, hogs, sheep, broiler chickens and
eggs. They farmed on several acres of land with teams of horses to feed their
livestock. Eventually, the family decided to focus solely on the dairy side of the
business, with herds of successful Jersey and Holstein cattle. In 1953, Idaho’s
developed irrigation systems and dairy infrastructure convinced Thomas’s son
Stanley to move to Meridian, Idaho, and continue the farm on new land in the
Treasure Valley.
Today, Stanley’s son Brent manages 600 cows in the milking herd and about
500 calves with his son, Clint, and his grandchildren. In addition to dairy
production, the family opens their farm to private tours for daycare centers,
schools, families, and other groups, so that children can see the animals and
learn about farm life. They also participate in Meridian Dairy Days celebrating
local FFA Chapters and their connections to the state’s dairy industry.
