We wish you a pleasant and interesting stay!
Dear visitors! Dear friends and guests of the city of Speyer! To make your stay with us as pleasant and informative as possible, we have assembled interesting information about the sights of Speyer for you (with and visiting hours). The City Hall (Rathaus) is representative of late baroque architecture. It was erected between 1712 and 1726 (Maximilianstraße 12). The Trinity Church (Dreifaltigkeitskirche) was constructed as a Lutheran church during the years 1701 to 1717. It was modelled after St Katherineʼs church in Frankfurt. Its interior has a richly painted wooden vaulted ceiling, and wood carvings on the pulpit, altar and galleries which in fact are remarkable. A guided tour through the church is possible during a guided sightseeing tour in Speyer. Große Himmelsgasse 4, Wed. and Sat.: 10:30 am–4 pm, Fri.(1.4.-31.10) and Sun. 2 pm-5 pm). Until the 19th century it served as an exchange of all trade and business activities on the Rhine. Later it served administrative purposes. The St. Ludwig Church (St. Ludwig) still contains the relicts of the Choir of the Dominican Church that was built in 1266. The church features significant late-Gothic pieces of art: the “Boßweiler Altar” (1485) and a woven antependium (about 1500). The Purrmann House (Purrmann-Haus) is the birthplace of the painter Hans Purrmann. Permanent exhibition of over 70 of his works.
