categories, with the exception of catching a Dolphin exceeding
50 lbs for the grand prize of $20,000.

OFFICIAL RULES & INFORMATION
ELIGIBLE FISH: Dolphin is the only species of fish eligible
for cash prizes. Other prizes will be awarded for Wahoo and
Tuna and the Top Lady Angler. All fish presented for weigh
in must be in fresh, edible condition and caught that tournament day. No mutilated fish will be accepted. Minimum
acceptable weight of 10 pounds is required for entry of a fish
into the tournament (youth division excluded). Any unwanted fish should be donated to the Big Pine & Lower Keys
Dolphin Tournament.
DATE OF TOURNAMENT: May 16th, 17th, 18th, 2014
ENTRY FEES: $150.00 incl. tax/open angler—$50.00 incl.
tax/youth angler (15 years and under). Entry fees include award
ceremony dinner on Sunday, May 18th, 2014 for each registered
angler. Cash prizes are based on a minimum of 100 entrants.
Only one cash prize per angler will be awarded. PLEASE
MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO THE LOWER KEYS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (or LKCC).
DINNER FEES: Additional Social Passes for Awards Banquet
Sunday, May 18th, 2014 may be purchased at a price of $20.00
incl. tax per adult and $15.00 incl. tax per youth (15 years and
under).
REGISTRATION: No entries will be accepted after the conclusion of the Captain’s Meeting to be held on Friday, May 16th,
2014 at 7:00 pm at Sugarloaf KOA Campground, Sugarloaf Key,
MM20
TOURNAMENT TYPE: The Big Pine & Lower Keys Dolphin
Tournament is an angler’s tournament. To be eligible for prizes,
each fish must be entered for official weigh-in at the weigh station at Sugarloaf KOA Marina in the presence of the angler who
caught the fish.
ELIGIBLE ANGLERS: NO CHANGES OR SUBSTITUTIONS
ARE PERMITTED. This is an angler’s tournament. Everyone is
invited to be an Angler. Professionals, Captains and Mates are
eligible. Tournament Directors and Weigh Masters are not eligible for the $20,000 insurance prize. Only the first 300 anglers
to register in the Open Division are eligible for the $20,000
insurance prize. The Chamber reserves the right to refuse
any entry.
RULES: IGFA rules will apply throughout the tournament with
line class up to and including 80 lb. test line.
Prize money is based on 100 anglers registering for the
tournament. The Chamber reserves the right to change the
prize money if less than 100 anglers register.
FISHING LICENSE: All participating anglers must possess a
valid Florida Saltwater Fishing License, where required.
CAPTAIN’S MEETING: There will be a Captain’s meeting on
Friday, May 16th at 7:00pm at Sugarloaf KOA Campground,
Sugarloaf Key, MM 20. All participating anglers and captains
should be present. The rules of this tournament may be
amended verbally or in writing during the meeting. Anglers
and Captains are responsible for rule changes.
Once the fish takes the bait and the reel is engaged the Angler is the only one who can touch the rod and reel line and
the double line. Anyone on the boat may touch the leader
and gaff the fish.
ELIGIBLE WATER: Anglers are only allowed to fish in the
waters off the Florida Keys.
WEATHER CONDITIONS: Boat Captains are ultimately
responsible for their equipment and crew, and should make
the decision as to safe sea conditions.
BILLFISH: Billfish are not eligible for entry into the tournament and should be released unharmed. Any Angler bringing a billfish into the weigh station at Sugarloaf KOA Marina,
Sugarloaf Key, MM 20 shall forfeit any claim he/she may
have to any tournament prizes.
POLYGRAPH: All winning Anglers may be subject to and
must pass a polygraph test. Any person aboard the winning
Angler’s boat may also be subject to and must pass a polygraph test. Refusal to take the test will result in disqualification. Using any drugs or alcohol to pass the lie detector
test will result in disqualification with no refund.
TOURNAMENT HOURS: “Lines-in” at 8:00am on both tournament days. Weigh-ins for the tournament are from 4:30
pm to 6:30 pm on Saturday, May 17th, from 3:00 pm to 5:00
pm and on Sunday, May 18th, 2014. You must be in line
to weigh your fish before the tournament ends for that
fishing day.
PROTESTS: Any protests concerning the conduct of an
angler or rules violations must be filed in writing with the
tournament committee the day of the alleged violation, no
later than the end of the weigh-in time for that day. A $100
cash deposit must accompany each protest. All decisions of
the rules committee are final.
TIES: In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by
the time the fish was weighed in.
