With the ever-changing media industry, there is a
growing dichotomy between the expectations and
motivations of different bloggers as well as
between the expectations between the bloggers
and the PR firms and brands they work with.
Some bloggers see themselves as journalists,
honoring the tradition of keeping editorial and
advertising completely separate. Some bloggers
are happy to review products and brands in
exchange for goods and services. But there is a
growing network of bloggers who expect
monetary compensation for the mention of a
brand on their blogs.

As a public relations firm owner as well as a
blogger, I can see both sides of the equation. I
personally tend to lean more toward the
traditional media business model but also
understand the need for expert bloggers with
huge followings to be compensated fairly for their
promotional work.
I conducted a study of 100 independent
professional bloggers and the results were

Run 5K to benefit the non-profit organization that pairs runners
with shelter dogs. The Sept. 29, 2013, race at the Navy Yard in
South Philadelphia will benefit and promote pet rescue and
adoption. Racers, spectators, family, and friends will be able to meet
furry friends for adoption at the event and get more information
about becoming involved with local animal shelters. Proceeds will
go to continuing the mission of The Monster Milers, Philly's shelter
dog running non-profit volunteer group.
The race is also looking for corporate sponsors. Sponsorship levels
are available from $500-$5,000 and each business will be able to set
up a informational table at the race. You can find the sponsorship
information packet here.
The Milers also have a list going for people who would like to
volunteer on race day. They'll need volunteers to do everything
from hand out water at stations to help at the registration table. If
you want to volunteer your time, please add your name to the Race
Volunteer List.
