DAY 1 – December 31st, 2015 – THURSDAY
At 14:00h, departure from Tropical Manaus Hotel pier to
board the M/V DESAFIO, your floating hotel for the next
three nights. Once on board, the multilingual naturalist
guide will host a “welcome to the Amazon” briefing
highlighting the broad spectrum of life in this unique
region. The guide will assist in the identification of the
flora/fauna, provide a historical framework and enrich
your ecological understanding of this unusual
destination and of the natural world. Check-in and
accommodation. At night, Réveillon special dinner shall
be served on board, including red and white wine, and
toast with champagne. The boat will be anchored in
front of Tropical Manaus Hotel with a privileged view to
the New Year’s reworks. Late night, start the cruising
through Rio Negro. (Meal: New Year’s dinner)
DAY 2 – January 01st, 2016 – FRIDAY
Early this morning, leave on a jungle trekking excursion
to learn about the local flora, amongst the richest in the
world. After lunch, start cruising towards the Samauma
village, located at the Anavilhanas Islands, the largest
river archipelago in the world. Later this afternoon,
board a motor canoe to visit the surrounding lakes.
After dinner, experience the excitement of searching for
and spotting caimans. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)
DAY 3 – January 02nd, 2016 – SATURDAY
Early rise to watch the sunrise and see thousands of
birds come out of their nocturnal hiding places to feed.
After breakfast, go on a fishing expedition to catch one
of the many hundreds of species found in the river,
including the aggressive piranha. In the afternoon,
opportunity to explore the river meeting world’s
greatest ecosystem, with a stop to interact with the
unique ‘botos’, the Amazonian pink dolphins. (Meals:
breakfast, lunch, dinner)
DAY 4 – January 03rd, 2016 – SUNDAY
After breakfast, you’ll reach the “meeting of the waters”.
This is where Negro and Solimoes Rivers meet each
other to form the great Amazon River. After a stop to
view this fascinating sight, continue cruising back to
Manaus for docking at the pier. (Meal: breakfast)
This itinerary may be modified by the captain of the M/V Desafio
according to the weather and navigation conditions.
