BASIC CARE FOR RABBITS
TIPS FOR RABBIT CARE
- FEEDING IT RIGHT
Plan to keep a rabbit or already have one? Ensure the well-being
of your rabbit with this workshop that teaches you the basics of
rabbit environments, life-stages, diet, handling and how to bond
with your furry bunnies.
By PA Trainer Nelson Chua Seng Hwee
When introducing new types of food, remember to
start slowly and over a period of a few weeks to avoid
digestive problems. As all rabbits are different, their
reactions and tolerance level to different foods will vary.
Start by feeding a small amount and wait 24 hours.
Observe the nature of your rabbit’s poo. If it’s soft,
withdraw the food and try an alternative until normalcy.
Allow five to seven days between changes of diet.
Always wash all food before feeding and avoid feeding
your rabbits any plants that may contain pesticides or
have been plucked from unknown sources. Apart from
hay, your rabbit may enjoy a small amount of fresh fruits
and vegetables too! Safe food for your rabbit’s consumption:
- Main diet should be 80-90% hay
- Plenty of drinking water
- Vegetables such as artichoke leaves, baby sweet corn
and cucumber
- Fruits such as mango, papaya and strawberries

Build to PLAY,
PLAY to Bond
In today’s digitised world, children seem to spend more time with screens than structures—block
toys that were once regarded as an indispensable part of growing up. But a group of enthusiasts
have come together under the banner of People’s Association Brick Art Interest Group (IG) to
share their passion for this hands-on artform.
“The Brick Art IG welcomes people of all ages and all
races. We have families with young children in our midst,
and they enjoy it too,” shared Ms Jeanette Ng, Tanglin
Community Club Women’s Executive Committee Brick
Art IG. “For me, it’s great to see my family laugh, work
and play together. The satisfaction of creating an artwork
together makes our weekends worthwhile and fulfilling.”
Mr Lee Aik Lam, volunteer at Taman Jurong Community
Club Brick Art IG, says that his passion for brick art comes
from its “flexibility and potential”. He feels empowered
to build anything he can imagine and encourages parents
to let their children experience it too: “Brick art inspires
children to express their creativity—first in building the
structure, then in telling a story about it.”
BOND THROUGH PLAY
- Enjoy quality family time, thanks to the collaborative nature of brick art. By working towards a common goal and
achieving it together, parents and their children share a deeper bond.
- Get creative! Creative thinking is the building block of brick art, allowing adults and children alike to give free rein
to their imagination.
- Help your child’s development. The spatial skills honed during brick are essential to solving maths problems. More
complex brick play during the preschool years has been associated with better maths achievements later in school.

THEIR DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITY
“Our PA Trainers possess this ‘S’ factor, the ‘Social Mission’ that they carry with them. Beyond delivering
quality course content and helping course participants to get to know one another better and deepen

from less privileged backgrounds have the opportunity to pursue their passion,”
said Mr Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Mayor, North East District.
He was addressing a crowd of 1,500 people who had gathered for the PA Trainers’ Nite 2015. The event, held on
