Bisynchronous Communication Module
Bisynchronous Communication Module
Main Features
Transmission Options
• DataExpress initiated or remote initiated
collections and distributions
• Switched and non-switched links
• AutoDial/AutoAnswer
• Ability to send or receive scheduled and
unscheduled transmissions
• Pooled transmission lines Modem Compatibility
• DataExpress provides a database of modem commands and responses to allow
the site to select the modems of choice
• Wide range of manufacturers and models
• V25bis autodial (single port automatic
dial)
After a specific file transfer becomes authorized, DataExpress assigns transfer-specific
charateristics to the link. This allows sites to
provide various transmission options
across the same set of bisynchronous connections.
Security
• To fully automate received data and to
secure the delivery of data retrieved by
the customer, DataExpress requires a valid logon record to precede any remotely
initiated transmission.
• To be valid, the logon or “LOGDX” record must correctly refer to a transmission schedule within DataExpress. Proprietary signon cards can be translated
to the“LOGDX” format by customized
routines. The password on the logon card
can either be transmitted in the clear or
beencrypted.
Additional options include:
• Transmission of compressed or non-compressed data
• Transmission of transparent and non-transparent data
• Transmission of fixed or variable length
records
• Receipt of the logon record as a separate file transfer, or as the first record of
the data file
• Encryption or decryption of the data as it
is sent/received on the link
• Transfer at various baud rates supported
by the modems
Supported Protocols
• 2780 emulation
• 3780 emulation
