Magic-Card Magic
10 Exact Cuts - Henry Evans
A spectator shuffles a deck of cards and another spectator simply names any of the four suits. The magician
retrieves the pack and then quickly cuts it into 10 piles. Amazingly, the first packet is counted and found to contain
just one card! The second packet contains two cards, the third three cards and so on, all the way through to the last
packet containing exactly 10 cards! The top card of each packet is then turned over (remember the deck was
shuffled by a spectator at the beginning), and assuming that the spectator chose Spades as the suit, the first card is
the Ace of Spades. The card on top of the second packet is the Two of Spades, on top of the third packet is the
Three of Spades and so on all the way through the rest of the packets! The Ace through Ten of Spades are then
set aside and the deck is reassembled. The Jack of Spades is then found on top of the deck and the Queen and
King of Spades are found on the bottom! The deck is then cut again, this time into three piles which are shown to
each contain the thirteen cards of the remaining suits, in numerical order!

The magician states that he will make a prediction that cannot fail, a prediction that he can give a 100% guarantee
to be correct. A spectator is asked to simply think of any playing card and name it aloud.
The performer removes a sheet of paper and unfolds it showing that since he has every card in the deck on one
side, he couldn't miss! Understandably, the audience is unimpressed and the magician offers to try it one more
time, but this time he can only give a 50% guarantee. The spectator thinks of a different card and the magician
tears the sheet down the center, handing one half to the spectator. Both the magician and spectator continue to
tear up the sheet into smaller places, and the spectator is asked to separate the pieces into two piles. One of the
piles contains the pieces showing cards with a similar suit or value to their thought-of card, and the other contains
those pieces which don't. Without any questions or "fishing" the magician may immediately name the thought-of
card!

3 Fry
The magician introduces a deck of cards, and removes three cards from the deck without showing the faces. The
three cards are clipped together with a big paperclip, and placed face-down on the table in full view as a
“prediction”.
Next, three spectators are invited to pick a card from the deck. (No force)
The magician states that the “prediction” cards in the paperclip are the three “soul mate” cards of the cards which
they’ve just picked. Now THAT would be a true miracle. Could it get any better? Read on…
The three freely chosen cards are signed by the spectators and returned into the deck.
Now you pick up the paper clipped packet from the table very cleanly and openly. The packet is handed over to the

A Date With Destiny

Ace Oddity
The four aces are shown. The Ace of Spades, which is explained to be the Leader Ace, is placed face-down on the
table and isolated under the spectator's hand, or a card box.
The magician explains that when the Leader Ace is turned face-down, somehow the remaining aces will follow suit.
Magically and visually, the remaining aces turn face-down, one at a time. The magician continues by stating that he
will vanish the three aces in his hands, and have them join the Leader Ace.
When the magician opens his hands, it seems as though nothing has happened, as there are still three cards. The
magician claims that the aces are really gone. Now comes the best part: when the three cards are turned face-up,
all the pips have disappeared -- only blank faced cards remain! Finally, the Leader Ace is turned face-up, only to

The magician has a spectator select and sign a card on the face. He/she explains that they will slice through the
center of the card so that he/she can show the "inside" of the selection. After a magic gesture, the selection splits in
half, leaving a card signed on the face with a blank back, and a card with a blank face and a normal back. The
magician makes an attempt at restoring the card by putting it back together with red tape. Realizing that it is
unimpressive to the spectators, he/she offers to try something astounding. he/she performs a magical gesture, then

shuffles the signed card back into the deck and returns the deck to its box.
Then the performer slides two face-up jokers halfway into the card box on top of the face-down deck (the jokers can
even be paper-clipped together). The two out-jogged jokers visibly penetrate down through the encased cards to
the bottom of the deck and then visibly rise back up through the cards to the top of the deck. The performer dumps
out the deck and spreads the cards. A single face-down card is sandwiched between the two jokers; it's the
spectator's signed card!
The magician then slides a small pay envelope halfway into the card box on top of the face-down deck. The

deck and the envelope out of the card box, the spectator's signed card is inside the envelope!
The magician then performs "The Ultimate Ambitious Card Finale" by inserting the signed, face-up, "ambitious

Heatwave trick by Peter Eggink
A spectator selects a card, memorizes it and shuffles it back into the pack. The magician explains that the
spectator's card will rise up through the deck and it arrives at the top.
When the top card is revealed it appears to be the wrong card. Next, the magician takes out a lighter, lights it, and
holds it under the wrong card, explaining, “Sometimes when you heat the card, it changes.” The card is turned over,
only to reveal the spectator’s selection!

"Never try to beat the devil at his own game" is the theme of this bizarre three card Monte inspired effect. A small
photo case of the type used to carry photos in the 1800's is produced by the mage. "How many of you believe in
the Devil? What I have here is the only known photograph of old scratch himself. It is a very strange image
indeed. I understand it was taken shortly after the civil war when he came around on a head count. You know
what I mean. Here, let me show him to you."
The case is opened to show an older gentlemen holding three cards. " I know what you are thinking, this certainly is
not the Devil. I admit he looks pretty tame, right? No not so at all. As you can see he is holding three cards. See,
his favorite game is the three card Monte or "HELL'S HUSTLE" as he calls it. And man, is he good at it. Let me
show you what I mean". The case is plainly closed and handed to the spectator to hold for safe keeping. A deck of
cards is produced and shuffled. "I need to warned you now that once you start playing with----- Well, him. Anything

The case is opened to find that the older gentlemen dose now appear to be possessed by something if not the
devil. Also, he is now holding only one card from his original three. It is turned to face us and is the six of
diamonds. "This is the card he has held back for himself . But where are the other two cards? Look here! There
is also an old and tattered card now stuck opposite of the photo inside of the case. It is the card dealt to you by
Lucifer himself. I'll turn mine over first." It is the six of harts. I am starting to see a bad pattern here. Turn your
card over,. Quickly!" It is the six of spades and has a note scrawled on it. "I'll be waiting! S. WOW! Looks like
were both screwed. Three sixes in a row. The mark of the beast. Man I knew not to pull this old trick out again.
Wait! The instructions said if I got into trouble to try to cut to the fourth six. It is a long shot but what the hell, we
are playing against the devil. If the last six is cut to, then the pattern is broken and the devil looses his hold on you.
You play golf? Well, in magic, this is the same thing as taking a mulligan. Here goes". The deck is shuffled and
then cut either by the spectator or the mage. The six of clubs is now flipped from the deck and onto the table
braking any hold the devil had over you both. "What a brake! Do you know how lucky we are. No more cards

McCombical Prediction (Bicycle)
The performer predicts a card by removing it from a red deck and placing it in plain view of the audience. The
spectator, seated behind the performer, now must select a card from an entirely different deck - hopefully matching
the prediction card. The audience can see that the second deck where the spectator must select their card consists
of 52 duplicates of the prediction card which has been in full view. The spectator is now invited to call “stop” as the
magician moves the cards one at a time from the top to the bottom of the deck. On the word “stop,” that card is

The "Phantom Reflections" appear like a more familiar pocket size mirror (4 1/2" x 3 1/2") of the sort one would find

Rainbow Deck
The magician displays a deck of cards. The cards are different from a normal deck, because all the backs are
different. Magician removes two cards from the deck placing them face up on the table. Two spectators introduce
the cards into the deck at positions they select.
The magician removes the face up cards and the cards just above them. The pairs are found to be a perfect match
for value and colour. For example if the face up card was five of Clubs, the face down card is five of Spades.

The Effect:
A deck of cards is shown as well mixed. Three subjects are required to help demonstrate your mastery of the past,
present, and future. The first participant selects a card, notes it and returns it to the deck. "A card was chosen, but
now is back from whence it came. It all took place in the past," you tell your audience.
You write a message on a slip of paper, fold it and write the word, PAST on it. The paper is set on a table and you
continue. The second person selects a card and places it in his pocket without looking at it. Addressing the second
person you say, "You have a chosen card and hidden it in your pocket. It remains in the present." You write
something on a second slip, fold it and label it, PRESENT This paper is set next to the first.
"Before we proceed, I will look into the future to ascertain an event yet to take place." You write on a third slip, fold
it a mark it, FUTURE. This joins the other slips on the table. The final spectator chooses a card a sets it aside near
the slips.
The first participant is asked what card she chose before the trick began. She tells everyone, "The Five of Clubs."
The paper marked, PAST is opened and read aloud, "Lisa has seen the Five of Clubs". The second person
removes the card from his pocket and shows it around. It is the Nine of Spades. The paper marked, PRESENT is
opened and read, "Will presently has the Nine of Spades in his pocket".
The remaining slip labeled, FUTURE is opened and read, "Melissa will choose the Four of Diamonds". The third
person turns her chosen card face-up and it is, of course, the Four of Diamonds!

Scraper (Card Through Window) - Trick (watch video)

face as an evidence of what happens later. The magician holds the returned card and the empty card case and
asks the audience to come by the window. The window is opened a little and the card case is held outside. Then

The Safe Deck from Vincenzo Di Fatta
Effect:
Display a deck to your audience, showing both the faces and the backs of the cards. Then have a spectator choose
a card and put it back into the deck. Say to the audience that your deck works as a safe, and has a secret
combination.
Put the small wheel (with numbers on it) on the deck, and then ask three spectators to tell you three different
numbers from one to ten. Then turn the wheel using the number told by spectators.
At this point, say that you will open the "door" of the safe in order to find the selected card. By raising the little
wheel, you will show how some cards remain attached to it. Ask the spectator to take the first of the remaining

You begin by laying a blue backed prediction card face down on the table. Then you display both the front and back
of a red deck. With the help of a spectator, the magic begins. You ask the spectator to give a number of their own
choosing. They now use that number to select a card. The remainder of the deck is placed off to the side and the
prediction is now turned over to reveal that it matches the spectator's card! But it's not a perfect match because the
selection has a red back and the prediction is blue. You respond, "No problem!" With a snap of your fingers both
cards now have blue backs! The audience is impressed, but you explain that the prediction you can understand, but
where all the other cards went is another matter. With that, you turn over the remainder of the deck to reveal all the

Just One of the Effects Possible: The magician shuffles a pack of cards and places two packets into the
"Hypno-Paddle" (see graphic). He asks a spectator to cover one eye and stare at the eye on the paddle with his
other eye. The magician begins moving cards from one packet to the other until the spectator tells him to stop. The
