Valedictorian
I plan to attend Texas A&M University in the fall and
possibly major in chemical engineering. Afterwards, I
would like to get a job at a corporation. Alternatively,
I would like to major in engineering and minor in
law. I plan to go to law school after undergraduate
school. Once I finish law school, I would try to help
the government as much as I could, as I believe that
you need to know about more than just law and
government to truly do anything right in government.
Ashley Nicole Peters
Salutatorian
After graduating from high school, I plan to attend
Texas A&M University in College Station and obtain
a degree in Business Administration through the
Mays Business School. After graduating college
with a Master’s degree, I hope to secure a fulfilling,
lucrative career and become a contributing member
of society doing something I love. I believe that my
choice of major is well suited to my character. By doing
something I love and am passionate about, I know
I will be successful and also have time for the other
things in life I love as well such as family, friends, and
volunteering. I hope to find that my career brings me
joy by helping others. Through my dedication and
strong-willed determination, I know there are no limits
to what I can pursue and achieve.
Guillermo Tamez
After graduation, I will be attending Texas A&M
University at College Station. I plan to major
in biomedical engineering. After receiving my
undergraduate degree I plan to attend medical school
and hopefully one day receive my doctorate. I hope to
help make a better world and help others through the
use of the skills I will learn in my time at college.
Adelina Cecilia Ramirez
I aspire to make a difference in the medical field by
working with 21st century lifesaving technologies.
My goal is to impact the lives of suffering people as a
professional in the field of biomedical engineering. I look
forward to collaborating with medical professionals,
hopefully even working with patients, as I become
involved in projects such as developing prosthetics,
improving medical imagery equipment, and other such
undertakings. My plan is to help create or improve new
and exciting medical technologies that will not only
impress, but drastically change the world for the better.
I will begin achieving this lifetime goal at Texas A&M
University in College Station this coming fall. In order
to succeed in such an endeavor, I understand I will
need to be an outstanding undergraduate and continue
such excellence into graduate school. I also want to
stay close to family, volunteer as much as possible in
my community, and personally stay healthy and active
physically, musically, and socially.
Sabrina Celis
I will be attending the McCombs School of Business
at the University of Texas in Austin. I aspire to be the
President of an organization on campus that gives
back to the community, be involved in the Hispanic
Business Student Association, study abroad, and intern
in the world-renowned Disney Internship Program.
After working a few years in the private sector, I plan to

Jeffrey Allen Guevara
After graduation, I plan on attending the University
of Minnesota and pursuing my dream of becoming
an aerospace engineer. Someday I hope to contribute
to the development and design of the modern
world’s most innovative flight technology. All that I
have been able to accomplish up to this point in my

Guevara and my sister Jacquelyn. Thanks Mom and
Dad. You have made me the person I am today.

This coming fall, I will be attending Texas A&M
University Kingsville where I will pursue my goal of
becoming a mechanical engineer. With math being
my favorite subject and the fascination of building
things in mind, I hope to have a fun time pursuing
the engineering degree. My dream of becoming an
engineer has seemed distant at some points throughout
my high school life, but knowing that I have the parents
and grades to back me up, I know I can achieve
anything. The achievements I’ve received these past

of Texas at Austin or Schreiners University. While
attending one of these schools, I plan to major in
Biology and minor in Accounting. After these four
years, I will attend graduate school to receive a Doctor
of Pharmacy degree. After completing this schooling,
my dream is to open my own pharmacy in the valley
where I can give back and serve my community. I
know I have a long, tedious road ahead of me, but with
the support of my family and close friends, I believe I
can accomplish these goals. I have to thank my mother,
father and sister for being my support system whenever
I needed it and for pushing me to do my best.
Angelica Danielle Sanchez

Austin's College of Natural Sciences where I plan
on Majoring in either Biology or Chemistry. After
completing my four years there, I plan on transferring
to the University of Texas Pan-American's two year

college work there. After working for a few years, I
hope to own my own clinic one day, and if all goes
well, go back to school and obtain a doctoral degree
as a Physician. I could not have gotten as far as I have
without the help of my wonderful family. I would like
to thank my mother Angel Paxton, my father Felix
Sanchez, my sister Brittany Sanchez, and my brother
Jacob Sanchez. I love you so much and thank you for
your motivation and pushing me to be Number nine

It’s never too late to help our kids make
smart choices about alcohol.
As parents, we have to use our influence so it works even when they’re no longer
under our direct supervision. As we prepare our kids for college, we should focus on
asking open-ended questions—such as, “What will you do if there’s drinking at the
party?”—that encourage them to think through real scenarios. Through honest and
open conversations, we can equip them to make the right choice when it matters
most. To learn more, join us on Facebook and download our free Parent Guide.

La Feria High School
Top Ten Seniors
Goodbye to Yesterday, and Hello to Tomorrow
By Jenna Castañeda
The end of another school year draws near for La Feria I.S.D., and the Class of 2014 prepares to walk the halls of La Feria High School one last time. The track runners turn in their spikes;
the baseball players hang up their bats, and the academic competitors set down their pencils as the timer sounds off. But on June 6, these students will gather altogether one last time, say their last
goodbyes to their best friends since elementary school, and say hello to the new chapter of their lives.
As our senior class sits on the field of Lion Stadium waiting for our names to be called to receive our diplomas, we’ll remember all the memories we’ve made in La Feria. We’ll look back at
dancing “La Macarena” during P.E. and laughing as we observed how silly everyone looked. Our memories continue to move on to junior high, where we began to change physically, mentally,
and emotionally, but we didn’t understand it one bit. We’ll look back and become both happy and sad with our lives trying to figure out how that could possibly be and where we encountered
our first “love” and our first heartbreak. Then we’ll remember when, in reality, where we hadn’t matured as much as we liked to believe.
Our memories continue to fill our minds as we reach our freshman year, where the excitement to finally be high school students and make new friends hit us hard. We continue remembering
and enter our sophomore year where we were STILL considered underclassmen even though we were SO much more mature than the freshman. Then, there was junior year where we were
finally considered upperclassmen and knew the ins and outs of the high school like the back of our hands. Junior year is also where we were stressed beyond belief. That was the year of college
entrance exams and AP exams where we learned that sometimes it is okay to go home and cry.
Lastly, comes our long awaited senior year where we rule the school. We’re so busy trying to slow down on growing up that we don’t even realize how quickly the year has flown by. We
enjoy our last months while they last. We spend extra time with family and friends. We say “I love you” more often and truly mean it a little more each time because we don’t know how many
we have left.
Finally, it’s our graduation night where our entrance exams have been taken, our final transcripts are about to be sent, and our college acceptances have been made. The football games,
parties, and memories with friends remain at the back of our minds, but more importantly, at the bottom of our hearts. When they call out our names, we’ll walk to receive our diplomas, and we
can’t help but smile because we know we’ve made it. All our hard work has paid off, and all our mistakes have shaped us into who we are now. High school taught us that there is always going to
be ups and downs and that you’ll always have to find a way through them and not be afraid of failure. There will always room for growth, so we will keep moving forward. We’ll keep opening
new doors and experiencing new things. So let us always be curious because curiosity leads people down new paths.
