Wood “Camp Cookie” Sponsored by the Burleson County Historical Society K.R. Wood a.k.a. Camp Cookie, has been traveling the great state of Texas bringing its history to life through songs and tales for almost 20 years. Wood, a native Texas singer, songwriter, historian and musician, plays 6 and 12 string acoustical guitars and has received acclaim for his Fathers of Texas CD. It is a collection of songs and narration about Texas’ storied history and is considered a landmark in Texas music. He was recognized by the 75th Texas Legislature in 1997 for keeping Texas History alive with his first Fathers of Texas CD. K.R.’s Fathers of Texas Music Series and the documentary Fathers of Texas: 175 Years of Texas Independence was recognized by both the House of Representatives and the Senate with a resolution commemorating his work in keeping Texas History alive. K.R. Wood’s acting career began at the age of 15 with a speaking part in the classic movie The Last Picture Show. He also appeared in Texasville, Hotwired, and Urban Cowboy as well as assisting with the music in the remake of The Alamo. K.R. has appeared on several television shows including The Big 40 reality show, The Perfect Match out of Canada, Half Yard Productions History Channel documentary titled Meat in America, and Billy Bob Thornton’s documentary On the Road with Willie Nelson. K.R. brought his Chuck Wagon and guitar to these events singing songs and telling tales of the Old West. He also wrote the songs and was interviewed in the documentary The Life and Times of Peter Bogdonovich about his role in the movie Texasville. K.R. has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild for over 40 years. Sit back and enjoy K.R. through his music and stories that include Burleson County and our Texas history.
