INGLIS FIREFIGHTERS Campfire Safety - Clear the area around your campfire of all debris for at least one metre. Never use gasoline to start a campfire. An explosion will result. Use your campfire only for cooking or warmth and keep your campfire small. Never leave your campfire unattended. NEVER leave children unattended or playing near a campfire. Keep a ready supply of water nearby. Stop adding wood to the fire well before leaving the site, let the fire burn down, spread the remains evenly in the fire pit, and slowly add water and stir. We would like to thank the community for all their help on the day of and since Bob and Linda’s devastating house fire… There were so many people that lent a hand that day, it reconfirmed what a great place to live Inglis really is. A Special thank you to the staff at Inglis School and Kid’s First ELC for supporting and explaining the situation to our kiddos and confirming that everything was alright. Last, but definitely NOT least ~ The Inglis Fire Department… Thank you so much for the dedicated efforts that day, a department like ours is something to be very proud of! Tim, Mel, Maelin, Conner & Blaise Jordan - Curtis Newton Band Blues- Jazz- Rock The Asessippi Cemetary is basically a community cemetary. Back in the early 1980’s a group of people who had connections to the cemetery formed a committee to look after the up keep of the cemetary. We were concerned that in time there may be no one to look after maintenance and upkeep. The group sent out letters to all relatives of people who were buried there explaining our plan to start a fund through donations of family members and anyone else who wished to donate. This fund would be invested and used to pay someone to cut the grass and for maintenance purposes, we still gratefully accept donations. The core group still had cemetary day once a year in spring to do things like leveling and filing sunken graves, lift head stones that had sunken or tilted, trim trees, etc. As the 30 plus years have passed our group has continued to age and many have passed on, so we find ourselves with a small number of people, most in their 80’s and 90’s left to do this work. Quiet a number of people have come to rest in the Asessippi Cemetary since we started our committee so we would like to invite community members who have a loved one there or think perhaps one day you may like this beautiful spot to be your final resting place to come and join us in our annual clean up day June 11, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Your help is greatly appreciated. $10 Cover Show starts at 9 pm The executive of this committee is Doreen Mench, Marilyn Liske and Brad Robin, if you have any questions please feel free to call anyone of us. On April 30, 2012 we experienced the power, professionalism, passion and commitment of our Inglis Fire Department. ~ It is with deepest gratitude that we say Thank You~ With sincere appreciation we would like to thank everyone for their thoughtful gifts and well wishes. Too often we underestimate the power of touch, a smile, a kind work or a listening ear, all which have the potential to turn lives around. And to our children and grandchildren we love and cherish you, Thank you. Sincerely, Bob & Linda Jordan LIVE BAND Friday June 8th Free Training Available! Over the past year, an Older Workers program has been offering free training to unemployed individuals between the ages of 55-64. Learning new skills is the focus of the program and it has been designed to assist eligible individuals reach their employment goals. Originally contracted for a one year period from April 11, 2011 to March 31, 2012 the project has recently received word that additional funding will allow for programming to extend until March 31, 2014. Older Workers programs are currently running across Canada under the title of “Targeted Initiative for Older Workers” programs. Locally, the project is entitled, “Employment AdvantAGE” and is offered in Russell. Amy Kostuik is the Coordinator of this program and indicates that it has been well received within the region. “Participants have been attending the program from Birtle, St. Lazare, Rossburn, Angusville, Russell, Waywayseecappo and Binscarth. In addition to offering free training, participants are provided with a training allowance which helps offset the costs associated with travelling to and from the program.” Sessions will be offered throughout the year and anyone interested in joining are encouraged to call to find out more information. Each session runs for 7 weeks. Training offered includes; Computer Training, First Aid & CPR, WHMIS & Safety Training, Food Safe, Customer Service and much more. Time is also spent in determining individual goals and how their skills link to the local labour market. Amy states, “It is important to look at each individual’s goals and help them to achieve them, where one person may be looking for full-time work, others may be considering self employment or working on a part-time basis. It is really up to each individual to determine what works best for them; I am here to support individuals in reaching their unique goals.” She adds, “The learning environment is very comfortable and relaxed, which is important to individuals that may not have taken training for some time. Each group has a maximum capacity of 5 participants which makes for a pleasant group atmosphere.” Employment AdvantAGE is an initiative of Parkwest Regional Employment Development Corporation. Funding is provided by The Government of Canada and The Manitoba Government. If interested, people are encouraged to call Amy to get further information. She may be reached at (204) 773-3632. But when the owner read the card with the flowers, it said. “Rest in Peace” The owner was little upset and called the florist to complain. After he had told the florist about the obvious mistake, the florist said, “Sir, I’m really sorry for the mistake, but rather than getting angry, you should imagine this: Somewhere there is a funeral taking place today, and they have flowers with a note saying, “Congratulations on your new location.” Read more: http://www.ajokeaday.com/ChisteDelDia.asp#ixzz1wrGtO TERI SONNENBERG, RMT ksp Registered Massage Therapist 154 Main St. Russell, MB (Inside IGA Mall) (204) 773-3717 Karen Goraluk Salesperson NorthStar Insurance and Real Estate Residential ~ Farm ~ Acreages Commercial ~ Cottages ~ Lake Lots 227 Main Street, Roblin, MB Cell: 204-773-6797 Bus: 204-937-8357 www.north-star.ca [email protected] Just Nailz Gel nails and Gel toes Full Body Waxing Tanning bed and more 8 years experience Located in Roblin Call for an appt. 937-8194 or 207-0112 Tracy Mohr Looking for pasture to rent in the Inglis area for 20 to 60 pairs.
