August - Hosanna Lutheran Church
Hosanna Youth News
August 2014
2014 Mission Trip to Tahlequah, OK
Seven Hosanna high school youth and 2
adult chaperones headed to Tahlequah, OK
on June 21 for their 2014 mission trip. We
stopped in Kansas City, MO for an afternoon
of fun at Worlds of Fun amusement park
and spent the night in Kansas City. Sunday
morning we went into the heart of Kansas
City and worshipped with the Children’s
Memorial Lutheran Church congregation.
This congregation is 130 years old and their
church has no phone, no internet, no
secretary, yet they provide meals 4 days a
week to their neighboring community. The
youth really enjoyed their visit with the congregation members and pastor. After
church we continued on to Tahlequah.
At Tahlequah, the capital of the Cherokee nation, we spent the week painting Miss
Jayne’s house red and green (yes red and green!), worshipping with the Team Effort
staff and other campers and learning a new game of lap tag! Our time together was
enlightening and it strengthened the bond our youth have with each other and their
faith. Many thanks to Hosanna for supporting the youth and also Andre Kub and Barb
Schepp for chaperoning. The youth who went to Tahlequah were Ethan Kub, Kaitlyn
Maidl, Andrew Neshem, Lauren Rupprecht, Eric Schepp, Kia Schepp, and David Will.

RISE UP TOGETHER!
The 2015 ELCA National youth
gathering is scheduled for
July 15-19, 2015 in Detroit, MI.
Mark 1:1
“The beginning
of the good
news of Jesus
Christ, the Son
of God.”
“We were meant to be together,
and we are a church that believes
God is calling us into the world —
together. So every now and then,
we gather young people and adults
together to share their unique stories and to experience the
larger story that makes up the ELCA; we gather to be
inspired, encouraged, strengthened, connected and sent out
to do God’s work in the world — together!”
