My name is Larry Stormer and I am honored to introduce myself as the new CEO of the Ligonier Valley YMCA.
I am also extremely humbled to be offered the opportunity to lead an organization that I am so passionate about
in a community that neighbors my hometown. My wife and I are both from neighboring communities and we
have three daughters ages 14, 13, and 10 years of age who have grown up as a part of the YMCA. It is truly a
blessing, personally for my family and I, and for me professionally.
I began my YMCA career over 17 years ago being hired as the Fitness Director at the Greensburg YMCA. I
quickly became enchanted with the “Y” and the work that we do in the community on a daily basis. I progressed
in my career at Greensburg over the next 8 years moving into the positions of Physical Director, then to Senior
Program Director, and then to the Associate Executive Director role. I was extremely fortunate to be able
to continue to advance in my career but I was ready for the next step. In the spring of 2004, I accepted an
Executive Director position with the YMCA of Greater Erie at the Eastside Family Branch. This YMCA is a 76,000
square foot full facility Y with a large staff, large member base and a $2.8 million dollar budget. I was blessed
to have had a very successful 3 year stay in Erie. We were able to increase operational efficiencies, generated
large membership growth, and greatly expanded program offerings. During my time there, we were also able
to develop a collaboration with Hamot Hospital which culminated in the expansion of the facility with Hamot
Physical Therapy space being part of our overall project. This project very much mirrors the expansion that the
Ligonier Valley YMCA is poised to embark on. After opening the expansion in Erie in the spring of 2007, I was
offered the Executive Director position at the East Suburban Family YMCA which is part of the YMCA of Greater
Pittsburgh. I accepted because it was an opportunity to move my family back closer to home and East Suburban
was attempting to raise capital dollars and embark on an $11 million dollar expansion project. After 5 years of
positioning the YMCA for the expansion, helping to build the team, and raising the capital dollars, we were able
to break ground in October of 2012. We were also able to open a satellite YMCA in Delmont which fell under my
supervision as a part of the East Suburban Branch. This enabled us to serve more people within our designated
service area. The two expansion projects, along with our everyday work, was extremely gratifying because we
were able to serve more people and meet more of our community’s needs. Our work in the YMCA should always
focus on our members and the communities that we serve each and every day. I have been privileged to have
worked with and learned from many outstanding YMCA professionals during my career.
I have been so blessed thus far in my YMCA career and I look at this new position as the pinnacle. My career
goal has always been to be the CEO of a YMCA but it is truly a dream come true to attain this in the community
and area that I love. I am excited to begin and continue to build on the past success of the Ligonier Valley YMCA.
I know that we have a strong staff, a passionate Board, generous donors, and wonderful communities that we
serve and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it. I look forward to meeting everyone soon as we continue to move
the Ligonier Valley YMCA into the future.

AREAS OF FOCUS
A cause-driven organization, the Y sets goals based on three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social
responsibility. We focus on these areas as a pathway toward a strong community — achieved when we invest in our kids, our health,
and our neighbors.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: Nurturing the potential of every child and teen
We believe that all kids deserve an opportunity to discover their potential. That’s why our organization offers programs and
activities that cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and increased educational
achievement.
HEALTHY LIVING: Improving health and well-being
Improving the nation’s health and well-being. In communities across the nation, the Y is a leading voice on health and well-being.
With a mission centered on balance, the Y brings families closer together, encourages good health, and fosters connections through
fitness, sports, and shared interests. Millions of youth, adults, and families receive the support and resources needed to achieve
greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind, and body.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Giving back and providing support to our neighbors
The Y listens and responds to our communities’ most critical social needs...and has done so for 160 years. Whether developing
skills or competencies through education and training, welcoming and connecting diverse populations through global services, or
preventing disease and building healthier communities through collaborations with policy makers, the Y fosters the care and respect
all people need and deserve. Within our organization, 500,000 volunteers and thousands of donors, leaders, and partners across the
country empower millions of people in the U.S. and around the world toward greater health, confidence, and community connection.

Richard Raizman Memorial Polo Field
Benefitting the Ligonier YMCA’s Children Scholarship Fund
The Ligonier YMCA is here to provide for each and every child, regardless of the financial
background of their family. We allocate over $100,000 to children for programs,
membership and child care in the form of scholarships yearly.
Please save the date Saturday, September 6th, 2014.
The Ligonier Valley YMCA works to strengthen the foundation of community by continuing to offer
programs and practices in our three areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social
Responsibility. To us, this means that our building and staff must be willing to invest in every individual
and every child. The dedicated staff members of the Y wear many hats as we strive to provide engaging
programs while setting an example guided by the core values of our organization. We understand that
when we come together as a community to improve our health, strengthen our families and support our
neighbors we become stronger and more capable of helping those in need. Our activities are not only fun
and engaging, but aim to teach our core values of honesty, trust, respect and responsibility, values that we
believe strengthen the foundation of our community.
GUARDIAN SOCIETY
Planned gifts are an important means to building
a strong financial foundation to support the
mission and values of the Ligonier Valley YMCA.
The Ligonier Y’s Guardian Society is comprised of
individuals and families who strongly believe in
our mission and wish to preserve its continued
impact through a planned gift. Your gift can create
a lasting legacy and ensures that the Ligonier Y
will be able to positively affect the lives of those
in our community for generations to come. Please
consider speaking with your attorney about leaving
your legacy. The Ligonier Y will work with you to
ensure any gift you leave through a planned gift is
utilized to its greatest capacity.
