Barrood Executive Director Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship Recognition Reception to Honor Entrepreneurial Students, FDU Alumnus Brad Neilley to Give Keynote The 2010 FDU Innovation Challenge and New Jersey Student Entrepreneur Award winners will be honored at the Eighth Annual Recognition Reception on September 10. Guest lecturer and alumnus Brad Neilley, CEO and co-founder of Green Planet Group, will share his entrepreneurial experiences. His company, Green Planet Group, is a global organization that is leading efforts to harness technology for a healthy world by providing solutions to build infrastructures using the latest innovative and sustainable energies. Information at www.fdu.edu/rothman. 2010 Innovation Conference Focuses on Philanthropy On September 28, the Institute will host a seminar designed to help the executive management teams of small and medium-size businesses, corporations and nonprofits better manage innovation. The program will feature insights from innovation leaders including PopTech’s Andrew Zolli, Michael J. Andrew Zolli Deborah Brooks Veterans Launching Ventures Starts Second Cohort The Institute is proud to announce that its first group of students completed the Veterans Launching Ventures program this past spring. This program provides skills and support for veterans to seize entrepreneurial opportunities and launch small businesses and nonprofits. Taught by a team of experienced faculty and entrepreneurs, this unique program combines in-person instruction with online education to teach students the fundamentals of starting a new venture. New Jersey Family Business of the Year Awards Each year, the Institute, with other corporate sponsors, coordinates this annual event, which selects the finest family businesses in the state and recognizes them for their history and community outreach efforts at an awards luncheon in October. He has served as CEO and executive member of the board of directors for 14 years following the merger that created Novartis in 1996. During his tenure as CEO, Vasella has led Novartis through dynamic growth to rank among the world’s most successful health care companies and strategically refocused the portfolio to include pharmaceuticals, vaccines and diagnostics, generics and consumer health.
