The crime prevention officer from our Garda division, Sergeant Stephen Goode attended and made a most useful presentation on crime prevention. He emphasized that the main advantage to a Business Watch Scheme is the idea that every tenant and employee keeps a look out for their neighbour’s security, as well as their own. • Meadows & Byrne, Magna Park • Core International, Unit 3 Orchard Business Centre • Nextgen, Unit 13 Orchard Business Centre • O’Malley Intersearch, Unit 6 Orchard Business Centre • PHD Pharma, Unit 4 Orchard Business Centre • RS Roofing, Unit 7 Orchard Business Centre • Suir Engineering, Unit 12 Orchard Business Centre • PlanNet 21, 11 Orchard Business Centre PILATES Pilates Classes commenced on Wednesday 18th April at Block 4, Riverwalk (beside Aulona Hair Salon). The open space will have acres of parkland, paths, playgrounds and football facilities. The number of people working and living in Citywest increased significantly during 2006 with a number of major tenants moving in during the year. Citywest is now viewed as a vibrant part of the county with increased commercial activity integrating residential, retail and commercial companies. Take-up of office space in Citywest during 2006 was strong and this is expected to continue in 2007 with major employers such as Shire, Meadows & Byrne, Reckitt & Benckiser and Lundbeck on board. Citywest will continue to be a major centre of employment as further leading businesses locate here. community sponsorships new transport links Looking forward, we will see major developments in Citywest that will help transform the area into one of Dublin’s leading areas. promoting education and sport for the local surrounding areas Citywest Business Campus gives donation to local Primary schools for the latest interactive technology With the help and generous support from Citywest Business Campus, four primary schools based in Tallaght, Rathcoole and Saggart have benefited from the latest interactive technologies. Citywest Business Campus donated €100,000 which enabled local schools to get Promethean Interactive Whiteboards. These local schools have started to harness this high-tech teaching tool to bridge the digital divide and make sure students are engaged and excited about what they are learning in the classroom. On the infrastructure front, the main projects that will improve working and living in Citywest will be: Luas to Citywest The proposed Luas A1 extension from Belgard stop to Citywest is currently at design stage. The RPA have ordered the trams for the line and construction of the track is hoped to commence early next year. The boards, that transform classrooms from the blackboard-and-chalk era to the cutting edge of information technology, were installed by Prim-Ed Publishing. Citywest Business Campus supported this project as they believed that the system will provide the local school children with the best available start with this modern and effective educational system. An interactive whiteboard is an electromagnetic board that allows teachers to conduct interactive lessons from any resource on their computer. Using an interactive pen, teachers can control how the lesson is displayed on the screen and add notes, images, and even audio/video files to make it more engaging for today’s young students. Outer Ring Road This will extend from the Kingswood interchange on Naas Road (N7) to the Blessington Road (N81). The Council’s Contractor is progressing well and expected completion is early 2008 although partial opening may also occur to connect the Cheeverstown Road to the N7. The teachers within the schools have found the Interactive Whiteboards to be invaluable, enabling them to build an ideal platform for improving class participation. Because of the interactivity of the whiteboards, students are excited and eager to be called on to demonstrate their knowledge of the lesson in front of the entire class. Students who are normally bored in a typical classroom setting are more inclined to pay attention to the teacher and the subject matter being taught because they want to use the interactive whiteboards. DCU DCU have put a programme on behalf of Citywest Campus which will involve schools in the area such as Brookfield, Jobstown and Killinarden Community School to name a few. DCU have also joined with Tallaght IT, UCD and TCD to ensure the programme has maximum impact on the local community. Computers for local schools Do you have unwanted/ surplus computers/monitors/ keyboards/printers? The local IT Teacher in the school can refurbish to make suitable replacements to their existing equipment. The computers need to be Pentium 2 or better. This can go a long way to help educating our local children in IT. Sport Sponsorship for local schools Citywest Campus has sponsored the local school under 14 boys football team with new Kit and Footballs. If any company would like to sponsor Jerseys/Kit for any of the local school teams please let us know and we can assist you in organising this. If you would like more information on the above please contact Katherine/ Christina at the Citywest Marketing Suite – 4660160 or email reception@citywest. com.
