President’s Message
Corinne Vahalik/Vahalik & Vahalik, P.C.
We continue to hear about exciting new businesses and
amenities coming to our area. Brian Haynes of YMCA
provided an update at our February monthly luncheon on
the new YMCA coming to the City of Katy as well as the
expansion of the City of Sealy YMCA to include a new
complex. We look forward to the groundbreaking and
grand openings of these two new locations!
We also heard from two of the Waller County Sheriff
candidates or representatives. We strive to keep our members informed of the
local elections and foster our relationship with local leadership. Our local
Precinct 4 Commissioner Justin Beckendorff will address the Chamber at our
March monthly luncheon at La Quinta. Join us to hear about what is happening in
our area.
The annual Ice Cream Social is quickly approaching and will be held again at the
Pattison Area Volunteer Fire Department on May 3rd. This is a great event that
serves to fund our education committee which provides scholarships to Royal
ISD seniors as well as funds for other school- and education-related outreach
programs. If you are interested in serving on the fundraising committee or
participating as a sponsor, please email Julie at [email protected].
Thank you for supporting your Chamber!

Corinne Hillsman Vahalik Receives Board Certification in Estate Planning
and Probate Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization
AUSTIN (March 2, 2016) − Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS)
announced Corinne Hillsman Vahalik received Board Certification in Estate
Planning and Probate Law. Ms. Vahalik currently practices in Brookshire,
Waller County where she is part of Vahalik & Vahalik, P.C.
Board Certification is a voluntary designation program certifying Texas attorneys
in 22 specific areas of law. Board Certified attorneys must be licensed for at least
five years, devote a required percentage of practice to a specialty area for at least
three years, attend continuing education seminars, pass an evaluation by fellow
lawyers and judges and pass a 6-hour written examination.
“An attorney has to do something extra to get certified and then they have to
continue to work and acquire knowledge in their specialty area to remain
certified. You could say it is a life-long commitment,” said Hal Moorman,
Chairman of the TBLS Board of Directors.
Vahalik is a 2007 graduate of Baylor Law School. She has been a part of Vahalik
& Vahalik, P.C. since 2011. Her husband and law partner, Matthew K. Vahalik,
holds Board Certification in Real Estate Law – Farm and Ranch and Real Estate
Law - Residential. The two are the only Board Certified attorneys in Waller
County.
The Texas Board of Legal Specialization was established in 1974 by the Supreme
Court of Texas. It is the only governing board authorized to certify attorneys in
22 select areas of law. Of the over 86,000 attorneys licensed to practice in Texas,
only 8,478 have earned the right to be publicly recognized as Board Certified
specialists.
For more information on Vahalik & Vahalik, P.C., visit www.vahaliklaw.com or
contact the firm at 281-375-2244. To learn more about Board Certification or find
