2016 Annual Scientific Assembly
Course Overview
This Scientific Assembly, which the Society holds each year, is regarded as
one of the premier educational events of the year for those working in or
close to the thoracic/respiratory field. Nationally known speakers covering
a wide range of topics as well as case studies assembled by members that
enable attendees to upgrade their knowledge in a forum, which allows for
discussion at a level not usually found in many conferences. This has also
proven to be an opportunity for attendees to interact with colleagues away
from the demands of their practices/work settings.

Intensivists, Sleep physicians, Pulmonary and Critical Care fellows in training,
resident physicians with an interest in Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine,

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Will be able to have new strategies to manage care of sepsis and
navigate the recommended treatment bundles
Will be able to have new strategies to manage care of respiratory failure
and choose between ventilator strategies
Will more appropriately refer and improve quality of life of patients for

The New York State Thoracic Society (NYSTS) is a State Chapter of the
American Thoracic Society. Formerly called the New York State Trudeau
Society, NYSTS is named after Edward Livingston Trudeau (1845-1915) for
whom a lectureship at this annual meeting is named. The first American
Investigator to culture the tubercle bacillus, the causative agent for
tuberculosis, he founded Adirondack Cottage Sanitarium at Saranac Lake,
