Tee Talk – April 2014
The ante natal clinic at
St Mary's Hospital,
Trafford, Manchester,
England, was full of
pregnant women
accompanied by their
partners and the class
was in full swing.
Mrs Sally Mackintosh,
Midwife, was teaching
the women how to
breathe properly and
was telling the men how
to give the necessary
assurance to their
partners at this stage of
the pregnancy.
She lectured, 'Ladies,
remember that exercise
is good for you. Walking
is especially beneficial.
It strengthens the pelvic
muscles and will make
delivery that much
easier.'
Sally gazed around
slowly and studied the
men in the room, 'And
gentlemen, remember;
you're in this together, it
wouldn't hurt you to go
walking with her.'
The room became very
quiet as the men
absorbed this
information. Then
Graham, a prospective
Dad, at the back of the
room, slowly and
nervously raised his
hand.
'Yes?' enquired Sally.
'I was just wondering,'
stumbled Graham, '
Would it be all right if
she carries a golf bag
while we walk?'
RULES OF READY GOLF
A guide to improve your golfing experience
Our Club President asked that we look for ways to increase the
utilization of our golf course here at the Country Club de Chapala.
One way to do this, especially during our peak season, is to support
and follow the concept of READY GOLF.
All of our members are urged to please follow these READY GOLF
Rules:
ON THE TEE
1. The player who is ready should hit.
2. Shorter hitters should hit first.
3. Tee-off as soon as the group ahead is clear.
4. Carry an extra ball and tee in your pocket.
5. Carry all clubs you may use for your drive.
BETWEEN TEE AND GREEN
6. HIT WHEN READY & SAFE; do NOT use honor system.
7. Take appropriate clubs to your ball and HIT WITHOUT DELAY.
8. Have your group watch where your shot goes.
9. Limit search for lost ball to 3 minutes.
ON THE GREEN
10. Place your carts/clubs between green and next tee.
11. Repair your ball mark and study your putt while others are
putting.
12. Where possible, continue putting until holed out.
13. Lift your feet and do not step on the hole to avoid delay of the
groups that follow in repairing scuff marks or damage to the hole.
14. If you are playing catch-up, leave the green immediately after
holing out and proceed to the next tee. Complete your scorecard
after you are off the green.
SHORT CUTS
15. Mark your score on the way to the next tee.
16. When driving a cart, drop your partner at his ball, then
continue to yours.
17. Wait to the next stop for your cart to replace head covers and
return club to your bag.
18. NO CELL PHONE CALLS.
Remember, slow play affects everyone.
Please cooperate for the enjoyment of all.
Use a caddy, they help speed play.
Page 4
Tee Talk – April 2014
Club Rules for Slow Play
5. SLOW PLAY
a. Slower groups must allow faster groups to play through if there is
an open hole ahead of them. If, in the opinion of the Starter or
Marshal, a player is delaying the progress of play, his/her group
shall be required to allow other groups to play through, or at the
discretion of the Starter or Marshal, move ahead without playing
to close the gap with the group ahead. If the problem persists, the
offender(s) shall be caused to cease play and if a Guest NO refund
shall be provided. All groups are required to follow slow play
procedures.
b. The Marshal may request a player on the green on Par 3’s to allow
the following group to play their tee shots.
c. Players are encouraged to report problems to the Marshal on duty
or, in the absence of a Marshal, to the Starter, and are to refrain
from directly confronting or verbally abusing offenders.

COUNTRY CLUB MEMBERS EARN A+
The Kids and Their Future Committee have given the Country Club de Chapala an
A+ for its generous participation in all of the activities associated with the 2014
Amigo Cup. Seventy-six golfers (seventy-three members) purchased Mulligans,
enjoyed a round of golf, and supported a 50-50 drawing to boost the educational
fund considerably. Our thirty-one students and their hard-working parents will enjoy
increased benefits for the next academic year due to the success of the 2014 Amigo
Cup.
Amigo Cup champions, Team #2, consisted of Jim and Suzy Park, Mike Sloan and
Margaret Walker. Team #18, Mike Daniels, Larry Powers, Doug Archer and Paul
Heckendorn were second. Team #1, Robby and Marilyn Edwards, Johanna and
Brad Clark were third. Marge Jacklin hit the shot of the day when she made a holein-one on #17. Unfortunately, she needed a hole-in-one on #8 to win a golf cart.
The Amigo Cup had major sponsors in eSun Energy, Alesso Club Car and Dalton
Toyota. Additionally, thirty-one businesses and/or individuals donated goods or
services that served as prizes.
The Kids and Their Future Committee is grateful for help from the Country Club de
Chapala’s personnel in addition to the golfers’ participation. Special thanks go to
Ramiro Barajas, Benito Vasquez, Javier Flores and Antonio Aceves.
A highlight of the day was the arrival of four of the students we are currently
supporting. It was rewarding to put a name and a face to our fund raising effort and
to meet these terrific kids.
Plans for an Intra club fund raising event met with initial skepticism, but we quickly
discovered, SI, SE PUEDE! The Committee would welcome advice and
suggestions as we look forward to Amigo Cup 2015.
And, as usual, our reminder that 48 of the Country Club members make a monthly
contribution to the KIDS AND THEIR FUTURE Fund. Why not add your name to
that list of generous folks? See Antonio Aceves in the office and he will give you the
appropriate form. We added two new monthly contributors following the Amigo Cup,
one a non-member.
We would like to acknowledge a generous and unsolicited contribution made to the
education fund by member Carol Mitchell.
