Unique in Europe! Le Pal Amusement Park and Zoo presents “Les Lodges du PAL”. In the heart of the county of Allier, France, an encampment of 24 lodges has been built on stilts, in the pure tradition of southern African reserves. Le PAL, an amusement park and zoo in Allier, has created a new family theme hotel for its 2013 season: “Les Lodges du PAL” Emotion, evasion and discovery are what you have to look forward to as a family in this unique and comfortable much sought after site. The savannah, sounds of night birds, antelopes at dawn. Let the “Out of Africa” adventure begin in the heart of Auvergne! OPENING SATURDAY APRIL 13th 2013 La PAL becomes a full-fledged tourist destination. A family run business created 40 years ago in Allier, Le PAL owes its originality to its two facets, as it is the only park in France that operates as both an amusement park and a zoo. Le PAL, spread over 35 hectares of unspoilt nature, offers 25 attractions, 600 animals, animal shows and educational activities. Today it is the most visited tourist site in Auvergne and the 5th most visited theme park in France (500,000 visitors per year). This ambitious €4.5 million project is part of the park’s dynamics, as every year 25% of its annual revenue is re-injected into the park (extensions, development, new sensational rides...). With the creation of “Les Lodges du PAL” in 2013, Le PAL will become even more attractive among French and foreign tourists in search of nature and evasion. It also lives up to current trends among leisure parks, which are becoming short-term destinations for both individuals and business people. “Les Lodges du PAL” in Dompierre-sur-Besbre in Allier, France Information, reservations Tel: + 33 470 487 200 - Fax: + 33 470 425 038 - www.lepal.com - e-mail: [email protected] Press contacts: Catherine BARBEROT : + 33 134 082 247 - + 33 660 950 548 - [email protected] 1 Unusual accommodation and high quality environment “Les Lodges du PAL” have been inspired by southern African reserves in countries such as Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa... The African savannah theme has been set in the slightest detail and highest quality. Everything, from architecture to materials to interior decor, to natural environment, to wildlife, was designed, built and decorated according to this theme. As a result the change of scenery is instant, comfort is overwhelming and emotions are unforgettable. Today, Le PAL is the first European park to offer this type of original and family friendly accommodation with such an accomplished theme. 2 Immersed in the African savannah The tone is set as soon as you reach the entrance gates; the porter drives guests in an electric car along the path which leads you to the encampment, and progressively the 24 lodges with evocative names (Kruger, Samburu, Mangetti...), appear one by one, nestled in peaceful natural surroundings. Built on 2 m high stilts, made from canvas and wood, the lodges are of sheer beauty. Their charm lies in the combination of African solidity and elegance. Made from natural tone, noble materials, they blend into their environment perfectly. In the heart of this wilderness, “Les Lodges du Pal” inspire relaxation and serenity. The visitor is plunged into a haven of tranquillity, let the trip begin... Large bay windows open out onto the wooden terraces which overhang the savannah and offer several observation points to observe the wildlife. Settled in comfortably, guests can observe wild species from the African savannah, zebras, antelopes, warthogs, ostriches, cranes... After spending the day with your family taking advantage of the many activities on offer at the park (25 attractions, 600 animals, shows with sea lions, birds of prey and parrots), returning to the lodges at the end of the afternoon is the perfect moment to observe this exceptional sight. Being immersed in nature among the animals creates a change of scene full of unforgettable emotions. We are transported to the heart of southern Africa; it’s magical and unique! 3 A guided tour of “Les Lodges du PAL” The lodges have been built using natural materials such as, wood, canvas... and have been decorated in pure African style. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm and intimate. Each bungalow is also furnished in an extremely comfortable manner. The whole concept is designed in a very ‘natural reserve’ atmosphere. All of the lodges have air-conditioning and include: • one bedroom for children, with 3 beds, including 2 bunk-beds • one bathroom (shower, toilet...) • one parental bedroom with a double bed (1.80 m) or two twin beds • a private terrace (12 m2) overhanging the savannah and its animals. The encampment is made up of 22 family lodges that sleep 5, and 2 lodges that are wheelchair accessible and sleep 4. All modern amenities are included: air-conditioning, LCD screen TV, Wi Fi. Each lodge is decorated elegantly and bestows the site with exceptional comfort and a guaranteed change of scenery. The safari style remains subtle. 4 different atmospheres have been created for the layout and decoration of the bedrooms of the 24 lodges. The main rooms open out onto large fitted terraces, from where you can admire the live show of the African savannah and experience moments worthy of the film ‘Out of Africa’. 4 Catering at TANGANYIKA Ideally situated at the edge of the savannah, the restaurant ‘ Le Tanganyika’ is one of the strong points of the encampment. Its very spectacular architecture, and the particular attention paid to its African atmosphere, make it an ideal and unique place to continue this family adventure. The African decoration is captivating. Here, everything has been fitted in a spectacular and authentic manner. The roof of the restaurant is thatched and its structure is 10 m high. The bar is made from driftwood, enhanced by bright colours (green, yellow, etc.). Tables made from tree roots, topped with glass, embellish the bar area, and the chairs are made from solid recycled teak; this very ethnic look helps create a very special atmosphere. The walls are decorated with handcrafted and contem- porary creations concerning Africa. Huge wooden chandeliers made from driftwood accompanied by coloured blown glass balls overhang the bar. Catering examples (included in the package, a day at the park, dinner and a night in the lodge with breakfast): Safari dinner, composed of grilled fish and meats, roast free range chicken, cheese from Auvergne, choice of starters and desserts. Drinks extra. Or Suricate menu, for children under 10. Rare moments... Sitting comfortably on the panoramic terrace overhanging a vast stretch of water, guests have their breakfast or dinner, and drink colourful cocktails while taking advantage of the breath-taking view of the wildlife of the savannah: antelopes, zebras, ostriches, cranes... 5 Activities and biodiversity Apart from being a complete change of scenery with intense sensations, this is also an intelligent invitation to discover the African savannah and its ecosystems. They play an important role in this responsible approach alongside the business foundation: “Le PAL NATURE” which works in favour of biodiversity all over the world. The foundation supports projects such as the conservation of endangered species in their environment on the African continent. THE FOUNDATION “Le PAL NATURE” has been particularly active since 2011, in the Hwange National Park (14,650 km2) located in Zimbabwe, in the heart of southern Africa. This natural park is exceptionally rich with endangered species. With global warming and its consequences regarding desertification, natural ponds have to be refilled using pumps in dry periods to allow the numerous species of animals to drink. Failing that, millions of animals could die of thirst, as was the case in 2005, when all of the ponds dried out completely. Paris 326 km Lyon 170 km Dijon 181 km Geneva 245 km Working within the framework of this programme, the foundation “Le PAL Nature” finances the replacement of current pump systems which are often deficient (old diesel engines that pollute and that are often out of order) with new ones that operate using solar panels. www.fondationlepalnature.org Bourg-en-Bresse 145 km Clermont-Ferrand 115 km Bourges 130 km Nevers 86 km “Les Lodges du PAL” in Dompierre-sur-Besbre in Allier, France Information, reservations Tel: + 33 470 487 200 - Fax: + 33 470 425 038 - www.lepal.com - e-mail: [email protected] Press contacts: Catherine BARBEROT : + 33 134 082 247 - + 33 660 950 548 - [email protected]
