The first two levels of screening included a series of yes or no questions where if the answer to a question was no, the site was eliminated from further consideration based on a fatal flaw. Due to the large number of remaining sites, additional analysis screening will be completed to compare the remaining sites to one another based on how well they meet the criteria. The additional analysis is a qualitative (good/better/best) approach that uses the same criteria that were used for the first two levels of screening. Examples of the criteria include reducing the number of properties that need to be purchased and traffic impacts among others. The sites that are most effective at meeting the screening criteria will be carried forward as light rail maintenance facility candidate sites and will be fully evaluated in the draft environmental impact statement (DEIS). Recommendations from the additional analysis will be presented at corridor-wide meetings this fall.
