In Deuteronomy 34, the children of Israel are getting ready for a new start. There's one major problem I see...Moses doesn't get to go in and get a new start. In Deuteronomy 32 we are told why. What had Moses done wrong? Israel had been in the desert for 40 years when they came to the Meribah. This was the desert and water was a precious commodity. And at Meribah there was NO water. The Israelites were NOT generally a patient people and when things didn't go their way they tended to get argumentative and blame Moses for their troubles. They demanded that Moses get water and they wanted it NOW!!! The LORD said to Moses, ''Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.'' So Moses took the staff from the LORD's presence, just as He commanded him. He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, ''Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?'' Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, ''Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.'' (Numbers 20:7-12) Scripture of the Month “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 Happy Birthday Konner Laza 4th Savanna Best 5th David Miller 5th Keith Parker 5th Michael Persinger 6th Sandy Johnson 7th Marcus Byrd 8th Happy Anniversary Chad & Terri Smith 4th George & Mozelle Strain 6th There are times when life just doesn't seem fair. In fact, there are times when life can seem SO unfair that we actually begin to question God. When those times come we have a choice to make: do we trust God or don't we? Why not begin 2015 with a renewal to TRUST GOD! Preparing People For The Coming Lord, Bro. Charles Special Gifts As far as we know this was the ONLY mistake Moses had made in 40 years. And Moses had had to put up with these bellyaching Israelites for ALL of those 40 LONG yrs. Have you ever listened to children as they argue, and quarrel, and bicker ? How many of you have YELLED at them? How many of you have said something you're pretty sure you shouldn't have? I have! Can you really blame Moses for having finally had enough of these Israelites? It hardly seems fair that God denied Moses the privilege of going into the Promise Land.
