It is time for another fun Mystery Lunch!
Participants will enjoy their choice of
chicken, steak, or fresh salmon for lunch,
along with a potato, vegetable, bread, and
coffee, ice tea or soda. The price includes
transportation on a coach bus, lunch,
activity, tax and gratuity. The bus will
depart from and return to the
Rosemount Community Center (south
parking lot). Payment must be made in
advance with your choice of meat.
Reservations may be made at a monthly
luncheon, placed in the RAS Drop Box at
the Steeple Center, or mailed to the
Rosemount Area Seniors, P.O. Box 402,
Rosemount, MN 55068. Make checks
payable to Rosemount Area Seniors and
indicate your choice of meat and mark
“Mystery Lunch”. No refunds will be
given after the registration deadline.

Book Exchange—NEW!
Mystery Lunch!
In addition to the Game Cabinet
recently added to the Steeple Center
lobby, you can now find a Book
Exchange as well! The right half of the
cabinet has been designated for this
purpose. Take a book, return a book!
The book exchange functions on the
honor system; everyone contributes to
ensure there are always quality books
inside. Anyone may contribute or take
books – the more the merrier! If you
take a book (or two) from the cabinet,
you do not need to return the exact
book. However, in order to keep it full
of good choices, next time, bring a few
books to share! The inventory of the
cabinet will periodically be inspected
for condition, space, etc. If the cabinet
gets too full, some books will be
removed and donated elsewhere.
Remember, the book exchange is not
exclusively a donation center—it only
functions if books are both taken and
returned! Also, please do not leave
magazines in the cabinet. Any left in
the cabinet will unfortunately be
removed and recycled. Check out the
back page to learn about another
new addition to the game cabinet!

the Rosemount community. The
Steeple Center houses the
majority of the programs and
events for the 55 plus/seniors.
Programs are a partnership of the
Rosemount Area Seniors and the
City of Rosemount Parks & Rec.

The RAS Craft Group has made a
beautiful quilt that they will be raffling
off at the November Luncheon! Tickets
are $1/each or 6 for $5 and can be
purchased at the monthly luncheons or
from any member of the Craft Group.
We are working on getting the quilt on
display at the Steeple Center, and we
will include a photo in the next
newsletter. Proceeds will benefit the
RAS Craft Group. Get your tickets now!

TRIPS & Outings
Lake Minnetonka Cruise*
Wednesday, August 10
Registration Deadline: July 14
Cost - $60/person
Bus leaves Community Center at 8:45 a.m. and returns at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Join us for a day on the water on beautiful Lake Minnetonka aboard the Lady of the Lake, a historic sternwheeler. Hear a
special live narration about Lake Minnetonka from the Captain and crew about the history of the lake and Big Island. In
the mid-1800’s Lake Minnetonka enjoyed worldwide fame for its elegance and scenery. Large steamships on the lake
accommodated thousands of passengers, and there were huge waterfront hotels and constant scheduled rail service that
catered to the elite families from the south that came here to avoid the heat. Relax and view a variety of waterfront
mansions, restaurants, marinas and gardens on the lake. Lunch on the boat will include: a turkey croissant sandwich,
pasta salad, fruit, dill pickle, cookie and soda OR a roast beef sandwich on an onion roll with cheddar cheese, served with
coleslaw, apple, pickle and cookie. Please make meal selection when you register. After lunch we will return to the dock
and enjoy the quaint shops along Water Street in downtown Excelsior including Excelsior Mill, a renovated lumberyard built
at the turn of the century that now features a bench-lined central “garden” court and several shops filled with distinctive
gifts and accessories.
Grandparents, Grandkids & Seniors Day at Holz Farm*

NOTE: Participants must provide their own transportation to Holz
Farm (4665 Manor Drive, Eagan)
Experience the nostalgia of days gone by at the 1940s era Holz
Farm in Eagan. This event welcomes seniors, grandparents, and
their grandchildren to share an event to reconnect seniors and
youth to farm life in the 1940s. Activities will include a tractor
hay ride, entertainment, family games, and a picnic complete
with roasted corn. The “Friends of the Farm” will also offer
walking tours of the farm house, sharing education and cultural
perspectives that appeal to a wide range of interests and ages.
This event is sponsored by the South of the River Recreators
(SORR) Senior Section.

and much more. Included in the cost of the trip you receive a luxury motor coach bus ride to and from the casino, a coupon for a
free lunch at “The Kitchen Buffet” ($10.00 value) and $10.00 in
Diamond Dollars.

We have partnered with the MN Highway
Safety Research Center/AAA to offer driver
improvement courses for mature drivers.
Upon completion of this course, drivers 55+
may be entitled to a 10% discount on their
auto insurance. This 8-hour program is
open to anyone 55+. All driver
improvement courses must be refreshed
every three years to keep the discount in
force.

Join instructor Debbie Phraner for this 50+
yoga class. Proper breathing and gentle
postures will be taught to enhance strength
and mobility. Chairs are available and can
be used to adapt poses for your comfort.
The class environment will help promote
peaceful, joyful and healthy individuals.
Participants are encouraged to bring their
own mats.

Zumba Gold—NEW!
Starting September 12
Mondays, 11:15 a.m.—12:15 p.m.
Cost: $5/class
Steeple Center, Room 202
Led by certified instructor Jodie Barris,
Zumba Gold is a fun-filled dance fitness
class. Experience a complete body
workout while learning the basic steps
to salsa, meringue, cha-cha and other
rhythms. No dance experience is
necessary! Zumba Gold classes provide
modified, low-impact moves for active
older adults. Comfortable clothing and
athletic shoes are recommended, and
participants are encouraged to bring a
water bottle. This is a drop-in style
class, so pre-registration is not
necessary. The $5 fee is payable each
day attended, and the first two classes
are FREE for new participants!

Have you heard of the latest trend—adult
coloring! Participating in this fun activity can
reduce anxiety, create focus, and bring about
more mindfulness. All the supplies you need for
adult coloring can now be found in the Game
Cabinet in the Steeple Center lobby, on the left
side. There are several different coloring sheets,
along with markers and colored pencils. Feel
free to grab the supplies you need and try out
your artistic skills! These supplies can be
brought anywhere in the facility or on the patio.
