The streets were cleared by Monday morning for us to have school. Twenty plus inches of snow and no snow day for us. I hope that you were able to enjoy the time with family and friends. The student council is working hard to get as many coats as possible for their coat drive. We have boxes in the main lobby and the all purpose room to collect the coats. The safety patrol will begin collecting hats, scarves and gloves for the mitten tree. They will donate the items to charity as well. Parents please remember to dress the students properly. We will try our best to have as many outdoor recess days as possible. Remember to check the lost and found closet for coats, hats, gloves, and scarves that students have left in school and on the bus. All types of coats and jackets are needed (heavy, light, male, female, children’s, adult’s, etc.) Gently used coats should be in good condition (e.g. without rips or stains) The highest demand for coats/jackets is for middle-school-aged children and senior citizens. The 2 boxes for coats will be located: (1) Inside the lobby/main school entrance; and (2) In the all-purpose room. NURSE'S OFFICE: It has come to my attention that certain foods served in the cafeteria contain soy flour and/or soybean oil. Some of our children with nut allergies are also allergic to soy products. Please be very careful when your children buy their lunch to avoid a possible allergic reaction. The head of food services is working very hard to produce a list of ingredients for common foods served in the cafeteria that parents will be able to access. Unfortunately, food vendor’s change and formerly "safe" foods may then contain one or more ingredients that can cause an allergic reaction in sensitive children. Parents please remind the students that they are not allowed to share food and or purchase snacks for other students. Please remember to replenish your child’s lunch account. Parents please do not drop students off before 7:45 AM. There is no supervision and it is not safe for students to stand outside the doors unsupervised. There is no parking or drop off in the front circle. The school buses must be able to get in and out quickly to pick up students at the other schools. Please walk on the sidewalks during arrival and dismissal. Walking in between buses is unsafe. The bus drivers have a very limited view from the bus. We also want to model safe behavior for our students. Please monitor the students at the bus stop areas in the mornings. The district is receiving calls of concern in regards to students running, screaming and yelling. Your assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated. There are no dogs allowed on the school property. ATTENTION PARENTS: The Lost & Found Cabinet is filled with unclaimed clothing articles and lunch bags. Most of these items are not labeled with the child’s name so we cannot readily identify the owner and return his/ her property. Please label all coats, jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, bags, etc., with your child’s full name. Either you or your child can check the Lost & Found cabinet which is located just inside the double doors to the school. Any unclaimed items will be sent to good will. Thank you for your cooperation.
