THE MOST WORSHIPFUL PRINCE HALL GRAND LODGE
FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS
JURISDICTION OF GEORGIA
HONORABLE RAMSEY DAVIS, JR. GRAND MASTER
To the entire Prince Hall Family Jurisdiction of Georgia:
Happy New Year and know that I wish for each of you excellent health, increased happiness and prosperity.
Thanks to all of you who stepped up to the plate and made 2009 a banner year for our Organization. Further,
I would be remiss if I did not congratulate all newly elected officers for ALL houses in Georgia. Know that my
office stands ready to assist you in any way I can.
To all heads of houses: Please send me your activities for the year so I may complete the Jurisdictional
Calendar. This is also the time to let me know if you wish your activities covered under the special event
policy of the Grand Lodge. We get the greatest bang for our bucks when we work together.
This promises to be a year of high achievement as we accomplish many things. Some of which are: (1)
Secure a favorable property tax class for 330 Auburn Ave; (2) Make a sizeable financial donation to Morris
Brown College; (3) Start construction of an annex (10,000 to 15,000 square feet) at our Grand East; (4) Erect
a sign on our Grand East Building displaying our name to the community and to those traveling on Old
National Highway where we are located; (5) We will continue to revitalize 330 Auburn Ave. to make it more
user friendly and enhance its marketability; and (6) Sure up those areas that need help such as Masonic
education.
Just to elaborate a little about the annex to our Grand East. In 2009, we did not meet our quotas for room
count in Savannah. Rather than have to pay $37,000.00, we agreed to return to Savannah in 2011 for our
Grand Session. In 2012, we will be able to have our Grand Session in our facility provided to have space to
accommodate our Sisters and our Banquet. By having the Session in our facility we will save $50,000.00
plus. In addition to that, we will be able to rent the space to larger groups for their functions. It will take a
team effort to make this happen but I know we can do it.
In spite of several challenges we face, our Organization is in excellent shape. Our future looks bright and
it will be bright provided we live up to our obligations. I am truly excited about where we are and the direction
we are traveling.
Finally, My Brothers and My Sisters, let us never forget who is in Charge. When we remember this simply
fact it makes Walking by Faith and not by Sight EASIER.
Best wishes,
Ramsey Davis, Jr. MWGM
Words From The Editor
Perseverance, persistence, courage- these are anchors that we should
cling to during the storms of life. Even in the worst storm have faith and
be steadfast, unmovable and always abounding, that you will find peace
in your storm and peace creates the power that gives you courage and
the ability to persevere. Wilma LeRoux

“Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season
we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9)
My Brothers and Sisters, as always I would like to
personally thank each of you for your continued support
of the Masonic Digest. I pray that each of you had a
blessed 2009 year. We are now in 2010 and there is
still much work to do.
In this issue of the Masonic Digest I hope each of you
will read about the many activities going on in our
beloved Prince Hall Family in the Jurisdiction of
Georgia. The Lodges, Chapters and other Masonic
auxiliary bodies have been very busy since the last
publication of the Masonic Digest. I want to personally
say “Thank You” to all members who submitted articles
for this issue to allow our membership to share and
enjoy your great works in your communities and areas.
I feel that this issue of the Digest contains a very
important article worthy of reading by our membership.
Please take the time to read the article “My Brother’s
Keeper “contained in these pages. The article focuses
on an event that has happened in the State of Georgia
that should be a concern to us as a legitimate Masonic
Body. After reading it you may want to be thankful that
we are indeed a strong body of people and fight for
injustice in our nation.
In this issue you will read about our many charitable
contributions and donations by our Lodges and
Chapters. We as Masons and Eastern Stars must remain
charitable and to do charitable works. These activities
should not be about one’s self but about the greater
good of others in our various communities. It is
encouraged that our Lodges and Chapters take time to
commit to our Youth Organizations. Please read on the
Knights of Pythagoras Program. As always you may
contact Past Grandmaster Willie Williams for
information about our KOP programs. You may also
visit the KOP of Georgia website link on the Grand
Lodge website www.mwphglga.org
Congratulation are in order for one of our very own in
the Jurisdiction. Please read the Spotlight article about
DDGM Ken Morgan of Augusta Masonic District No.
2. I created the Spotlight Articles in every issue of the
Masonic Digest to give special recognition to our
members for their achievements in Masonry and outside
of Masonry. It is so important to give “Roses while we
are alive” to everyone who is doing a wonderful job.
Congratulations are also in order for Past Master Louis
Negron of Truth and Union Lodge No. 594 for being
selected as Georgia Trends Magazine Best and
Brightest 40 and under. He was also in the Spotlight in
a previous addition of the Masonic Digest. You can
read more about his accomplishments and others by
going to this link on the internet link:
http://www.georgiatrend.com/coverstory/10_09_40under40.shtml.
Again, the articles in the Masonic Digest are proof that
we as Masons and Eastern Stars are making a difference
within our communities and areas. This issue of the
Masonic Digest contains articles about local food
drives, back to school give-a-ways, nursing home
visitations, and various community projects. If your
Lodge or Chapter has not received any issues of the
previous Masonic Digest please inform your
Worshipful Master or Worthy Matron and have them
contact your District Deputy Grand Master. If you still
are unable to get your issues or articles published please
send me an email and I will check into the matter
personally.
You may send your request to [email protected]
or [email protected]. Please allow 3-5
days to receive a response.
We are rapidly approaching another Grand Session.
Please be blessed and say prayers for the families and
victims of the earthquake disaster in the country of
Haiti. If you have any ideas or suggestions for our
publication please do not hesitate to contact me. The
next Masonic Digest publication deadline for
submitting articles is May 24, 2010. The next

“No Man Stands So Straight As
When He Stoops To Help A Boy”
Project Knighthood to Brotherhood is a
mentoring program which demonstrates
its effectiveness in training Knights to
become men in today's world. Knights
8-20 years of age are taught the values,
habits, attitudes and skills of manhood.
Knights will be taught peer resistance
and other skills to prevent
dysfunctional behavior such as
violence, drug addiction, and premartial sex.
The Brotherhood should provide
Knights with problem-solving
counseling and ensure that their various
needs get met through community
resources.
Youth Knights are helped towards
career maturity and are taught to
develop Business Administration skills
which will allow them to be successful
in the global society.
Brothers should be prepared to pour
their hearts out into Knighthood.
The Councils and Lodges should work
together with the Brothers sharing their
wisdom and knowledge with their
Knights.
Let our Knights fulfill their dreams in
this mentoring program by completing
their education and defeating crime and
drugs in our communities.
We as "Brothers" should be there no
matter what. Remember when we were
young men how someone took time
with us.

My Brother’s Keeper
Open Racism in Georgia Freemasonry
June 21, 2009 by masonictraveler
Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the
field.” [d] And while they were in the field, Cain attacked
his brother Abel and killed him.
Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother
Abel?”
“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your
brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now
you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which
opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from
your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer
yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on
the earth.”
Genesis 4: 8-12 N.I.V.
The Grand Lodge of Georgia has openly documented its
policy of racial exclusion of “non-white men”. In a court
filing to the Superior Court of Dekalb county – civil
action 09CV7552-8, are documents which include the
charges brought against the Worshipful Master of Gate
City Lodge No. 2.
The charges as filled were quantified as a Violation of
the Moral Law.
Specification 1 in this – That said worshipful master xx
xx did in fact raise or allow to be raised in and about
February 2009 in the lodge that he is the Worshipful
Master, a non-white man, xx xx.
Specification 2 – This said worshipful master xx xx did
commit overt act or acts against moral laws of Free and
Accepted Masons and the moral duties as the Worshipful
Master of Gate City lodge no 2 as follows:
Violation of moral law from word of mouth
Violation of moral obligation to the ancient
landmarks, ancient customs, ancient traditions,
ancient usages, constitution, laws and edicts
working under the jurisdiction of the Grand
Lodge of Georgia.
Violation of moral official obligation was taken
at the time of installation of officers.
Violation of moral obligations of not upholding
the charter of Gate City Lodge #2
Violation of moral obligation of keeping peace
and harmony in the craft by allowing the
operation of a Cabal in Gate City Lodge #2
Violation of moral obligation as pursuant to
Masonic Code 1-104 without having obtained
the sanction of the grand Lodge are hereby
declared spurious and clandestine and of no
Masonic authority whatsoever.
The Master of gate City Lodge, proclaiming his
innocence, was then charged in the following manner.
Violation of the Laws of Masonry
Specification 1 In This: That said Worshipful Master xx
xx did in fact embrace a formed Cabal to secretly unite to
bring about and overturn with usurpation of the
constitution, laws, ancient landmarks, customs and
traditions of Free and Accepted Masons working under
the jurisdiction of ancient landmarks, customs and
traditions of Free & Accepted Masons working under the
jurisdiction of the grand Lodge of the state of Georgia,
when he was elected Worshipful Master in December
2008.
Specification 2 in this – The worshipful master xx xx
knowingly and willfully did in fact allow a raising of a
non-white man in February 2009, which has never been
done working under the jurisdiction of Grand Lodge of
the state of Georgia. According to the old customs of the
Grand Lodge of the state of Georgia which has existed
continuously since February 21, 1734. After the fact, xx
xx did allow parading xx xx to other Masonic Lodges,
presenting him as a Master Mason accompanied by a
letter dated February 25, 2008 on gate city Lodge#2
letterhead with the typed from xx xx xx, Grand Master.
Specification 3 In this: That the said worshipful Master
xx xx did commit act or acts of destroying peace and
harmony throughout the craft of Masonry in the state of
Georgia.
Specification 4 in this: that said worshipful master xx xx
of Gate City Lodge #2 did in fact knowingly and willfully
commit this act or acts which is in conflict with the
ancient landmarks and Masonic code sections 71-101, 4-
Page 13
101#6, 1-101, 1-201, 1-202, 1-205. Worshipful Master xx
xx committed act or acts knowingly and willfully that
conflicts with the ancient customs and traditions which
are the immemorial usages and fundamentals of the craft
which have existed from time immemorial and are
unchangeable.
Specification 5 in this: That said worshipful Master xx
xx of gate city lodge #2 must be tried by a trial of present
and or past masters pursuant to Masonic code 83-401 and
when found guilty of this charge of violation of the laws
of Masonry as he would be under no less penalty than
that established by Masonic code 21.106 and 21.107.
Masonic Law speak, the charges are based on committing
act or acts of destroying peace and harmony, but
involving the moral law as to the cabal behind the making
of an “non-white” man a Mason. The disharmony seems
to have stemmed from the “parading” of an African
American Georgia Freemason, which is apparently now,
a violation of their moral law. Never mind that the
brother was made and recognized by the state, and never
mind that he was acknowledged in a tiled lodge as such
Some speculation suggests that rather than drop the
proceedings, the Grand Master will hold the trial to quell
the misconception of racism and set the record straight,
but this remains to be seen.
In the mean time, a civil filing by the Worshipful Master
turned Plaintiff suggests that the Grand Lodge is in
violation of its Non-Profit Status as it is now openly
admitting that it discriminates based on race, which is
against the public policy of the State. In the filing, it is
also points out in several sections where the Grand Lodge
is …an enemy of bigotry or intolerance… and also states
the the Grand Lodge in leveling the charges is in
violation of its contract with the member(s) when facing
revocation of charters and membership privileges as
members have a value property investment (contract)
from their dues. Interesting to point out, the filing also
says openly that “Upon information and belief, Plaintiffs
show that there are currently in Georgia active, regular
Master Masons of at least the following extractions in
whole or in part: American Indians, East Indian,
Arab/Lebanese/Egyptian, Persian/Iranian, Vietnamese,
Chinese, non white Mexican/Hispanic, African-American,
and Filipino, in addition to those of white/Caucasian
ancestry.” So, now there seems to be a provision of the
fraternity being not strictly white, which seems to
countermand the white only exclusion.
The long and short of this convoluted tale comes squarely
to rest on the odious claim that a “non-white man” can
not be a Freemason.
I affirm, that racism is not tolerable, and bigotry,
open or otherwise, is not included in our Moral Law.
The brothers of Georgia are sorely mistaken in this
assertion.
As I AM my brother’s keeper my “…brother’s blood
cries out to me from the ground“. To let this go will put
the fraternity under a curse that will send us “…driven
from the ground”.
If not addressed this open proclamation could destroy the
fraternity.
This is not Freemasonry in the 21st Century. This is not
tolerable, on a personal level or from a Grand Lodge
level, especially our Grand Lodges are an electable body
from the craft lodge. Recognition of Georgian
Freemasonry must be held in questioned especially if
they are so ignorant to hold these ideas to be Moral
Laws. If in fact they do then Recognition must be
terminated.
We are our brother’s keepers and only have the Great
Architect to answer to. How will we respond when he
asks us how we addressed this?
Brothers and Sister I chose to add this article to the Digest to enlighten all of us the fact we are still
divided in regards to race in Masonry. The article details what happened to a Worshipful Master from
the White Grand Lodge of Mason in Georgia. He was brought on charges of conduct unbecoming a
Mason because he and the members of his Lodge initiated and raised a Black man in their Lodge. A
Black man who was deemed worthy and voted on by the white members of that particular Lodge for
membership. He was given all three degrees of Masonry and accepted by his peers. Racism raises its
ugly head when others chose ignorance over common sense. The legal proceedings of this matter are
still pending. Once a ruling has been made I will do a follow up article. Editor

THE SPOTLIGHT
DDGM Named Director and Chief of Campus Police and Security
Fort Valley State University"
DDGM Ken Morgan was recently named Director/Chief of Campus Police and
Security at a Historically Black College and University. You may remember
DDGM Morgan being given an award in Athens, Georgia in 2008 by Grand
Master Ramsey Davis Jr. entitled the "Spark Plug District Deputy Award'. The
Augusta Masonic District No. 2 is proud to announce that their District Deputy
has been charged with securing FVSU which was founded in 1895. Fort Valley
State University a Land Grant Institution located in Peach County, Georgia is one
of the oldest HBCU's in the Southeast. DDGM and FVSU Chief Morgan is
plighted with the overall security and protection of over 3,600 students, 1200 plus
faculty/staff and 90 plus buildings and facilities owned and operated by FVSU
including a Satellite Campus in Warner Robins, Georgia. DDGM
Morgan recently stepped down and decided not to run for his former City
Council Seat in Milledgeville, Georgia to meet the demands of an active family,
being District Deputy and being the Chief of FVSU.
According to Dr. Dwayne Crew, associate vice president of business and finance,
Morgan surpassed more than 21 candidates from across the nation to secure the
new position. “He’s better-rounded in total skill sets than other candidates were,”
Crew said.
The GCSU graduate obtained a bachelor’s degree, and then accepted a desk job as a
Georgia Department of Family and Children Services social work investigator to ensure
the safety of young children. Three years later, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation
employed Morgan as a special agent. The Milledgeville native worked politicallysensitive cases and property crimes for the Bureau. During his 13-year tenure as a
special agent, Morgan received numerous commendations and was elected to the
Milledgeville City Council, where he still serves. Morgan’s most recent law
enforcement work was with the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office where he worked as
a criminal investigator.
Morgan expects to implement changes within the university’s campus safety department
to ensure that safety remains a priority on campus. Currently, campus safety has 14
P.O.S.T. certified police officers, and 15 security officers. Additional officers may be
hired to help with the influx of students. Morgan also wants to implement a field
training officer program on campus, where the university’s best officers will undergo
supervisory instruction to train their peers in the field.
Some officers who’ve been on the force for a while, need to undergo field training as well to become effective at what
they do,” said Morgan. “Being a P.O.S.T. certified instructor, I feel that training is key to keeping officers abreast of
the demanding pace that is involved with public service work. The university’s campus safety and security
department desperately needs stability, training and a strategic vision so that our police and security officers can
handle the monumental task of a larger-than-normal student enrollment this fall.
Morgan is a married, father of two sons and a daughter. In his spare time, he likes to enjoy rides on his HarleyDavidson motorcycles.
