Flow and pressure monitoring in water distribution networks
Project Purpose: Monitoring flow and pressure in the main nodes of water distribution networks,
including detection losses

Locations: Cities Cluj, Zalau, Dej, Gherla, Huedin, Dej, Jibou, Cehu Silvaniei, Simleu Silvaniei
Value Investment: 377.444 Euro
The solution implemented: To monitor flows and pressures in water distribution networks we used
telemetry system with self-contained battery, composed of datalogger Inventia MT723,
electromagnetic flowmeters Hydreka Hydrins2 with local display, pressure sensors Huba Control
DT511 0-10 Bar.
Information taken from monitoring points are transmitted to the regional dispatch. In these
regional dispatch were used software packages SCADA Siemens SIMATIC WinCC 7.0.
Measurement Points: 52 locations
Regional Dispatch: 4 (Cluj, Huedin, Gherla, Dej)

Data taken from measurement points: instantaneous flow, flow totalizer positive, negative and
total, low water alarm, alarm exceeding maximum flow, pressure, maximum pressure exceeding
alarm, low battery alarm, GPRS communication status
Regional Dispatch: For each city are presented in SCADA application synoptic maps with
positioning of each measurement point, and by accessing its displays information on that point.
Data are collected from measuring points hourly (the time period is configurable by the customer)
Based on data collected from datalogger we can display in Regional Dispatch the list of alarm,
reports for different time, graphic evolution of the parameters you want.
Local data can be downloaded directly from datalogger to a laptop via USB connection.

Warning messages: When defined threshold is exceeded for flow and pressure, no voltage, lack of
water in pipe, SMS messages are automatically transmitted by persons directly involved in
operating of water distribution system (intervention team, head of department, ...)
