The earliest inkling of Bagshaw Footwear dates back to 1872. William Bagshaw pioneered the
tanning and footwear industry in South Africa. From humble beginnings to a large transparent,
people-orientated company over 120 years later. Like William Bagshaw, who seamlessly re-invented
himself from being a skilled mason to a master tanner, so we have built up the knowledge and the
industry foresight from over a century’s worth of experience. We are committed through our trusted
ways and business integrity to craft industrial footwear based on the knowledge harnessed from long
days working and building South Africa.
Ndlovu - Every man does not particularly
crave adventure and excitement. He just
wants to live his life and get on with the
job at hand. The good old boy, the person
next door, the realist, the working stiff and
the solid citizen. The Ndlovu brand is at the
heart of this person’s workday - he knows he
needs solid reliability and a quality product.
It doesn’t give him status as he doesn’t crave
it - it is there for one sole purpose, to make
the job a little more comfortable and in turn,
make him more efficient.

Shu - She is an Innocent.
But that doesn’t mean she looks weak and
insecure. With the soft, comfortable and stylish
appearance you might be forgiven for thinking
so. But underneath those descriptors is a
tough, reliable and proud interior that strives
to get the job done right, the first time. Just like
the women who wears our brand, she wants
to be free to be herself and not confined to a
pre-determined style, job or workspace. She is
comfortable with herself – she is ambitious and
driven. There is no such thing as “it’s a mans
world” – not anymore.

Like a diamond, women have many facets which is why Shu! incorporates both femininity and functionality
into its products. Shu! offers safety footwear designed specifically for women. It is a brand that knows
women are capable and ambitious, and should not be limited by their job or workspace. The brand’s
safety footwear offers comfort for both the broader and narrower foot without sacrificing style. By
incorporating the narrower-style as well as the broader-styled ranges, women in industry now have a
choice in stylish and functional safety footwear.

Fuel - is the real South African. Hardworking,
trusted and reliable - gets the job done. Fuel is
the brand that adds character and substance
to a hardworking individual. It is about putting
on what you want to get out. It’s about having
initiative and pursuing new skills - not about
sitting down for the free ride. It’s about willing
to go for high risk and high responsibility. It’s
about being a specialist - the go to guy. It’s
about doing the things ordinary people wont…
TAKING SAFETY & SERVICE
FOOTWEAR TO THE EXTREME
FUEL QUALITY ASSURANCES
FEATURES APPLICABLE TO ALL FOOTWEAR
Due to the highly divergent nature of the work environment, it is impossible
to issue a blanket, indefinite and unconditional guarantee on safety
footwear. This sort of all encompassing guarantee would invite abuse
from unscrupulous sectors. Instead, each claim is individually assessed
to determine whether or not the footwear has provided the wearer “fair
wear” within his or her specific work environment. Naturally as an SABS
manufacturer, Bagshaw Footwear accepts full responsibility for unprovoked
footwear faults arising from material or manufacturing error. In instances
where doubt exists, the question is asked whether or not the following safe
boundaries were exceeded:
• Sole Material
• Construction
• Lining
• Sizes
• Toecap
• WATER – Rubber / leather footwear is designed to be water-resistant,
not water proof. In areas where there is constant exposure to water,
employees should wear gumboots, not leather footwear.
• OIL – Rubber footwear is highly resistant to oil, although life of footwear
will be prolonged if excess oil is removed from the surface of the leather.
• ACIDS – Rubber exhibits good resistance to a broad spectrum of acids,
providing that they are reasonably diluted. Concentrated Hydrochloric,
Sulphuric and Nitric acids will attack metal, so it is unreasonable to expect
Nitrile Rubber to endure prolonged contact with them.
• HEAT – Fuel rubber footwear is resistant to temperatures up to 300
degrees Celsius. Specialised heat resistant footwear is required for
environments exceeding 90 degrees Celsius.
• MINES – Fuel safety footwear is well suited for work on mines.
: Nitrile Rubber R5 compound resistant to 300° Celsius
: Cemented and stitched unit
: Non-woven vamp/fleece lining
: 5 - 12 (unless otherwise indicated)
: Wide Fitting Steel / Carbon fibre Toecap Resistant to 200j
The Fuel heat resistant range of Footwear can withstand the considerable heat
experienced in heavy duty forges, foundries and other high temperature related
industries. This is achieved by using the following specialised materials:
• Sewing Threads
• Selected Styles - Imported Continuous Fibre M20 heat resistant thread is used in
sewing operations and is Heat Resistant to 400 - 450° Celsius.
• Breaking Load resistance is as follows:
- Uppers Thread : 106 neutons
- Unit Stitch Thread : 221 neutons
• Kevlar Lining
• Pinatubo (Style 9667) and Etna Heat (Style 9669) has Kevlar Vamp, Quarter
and Insole Lining. Heat Tests have shown excellent foot insulation is achieved.
Resistant to 350° Celsius continuous heat.
• Nitrile Rubber Unit Sole - R5
• Nitrile Rubber Sole Units which are Oil and Heat Resistant to 300° Celsius.
• CEMENT – Cement in conjunction with water, frequently dehydrates
the leather in safety footwear. Rubber footwear acquits itself well on
construction sites.
MISSION STATEMENT
All reasonable claims for faulty footwear will be met but in any instances of
disagreement or dispute the matter shall be settled by discussions between
Bagshaw Footwear and the customer or failing which, by referral to the
South African Bureau of Standards in Pretoria.
To remain a sustainable business which fairly rewards all our stakeholders,
commensurate with their respective interests and contributions. This is to be
achieved through meeting the needs of our markets with quality, value-for-money
footwear and superior service.

Lemaitre - combines fashion with flair.
A combination of the most stylish and
comfortable safety shoes. For people that
wear them every day, whether that means
keeping to basics of a factory environment or
getting creative after a day on the grind. Some
are known for a classic aesthetic and there
are those who are not afraid to be edgy. Its
about breaking the mould of professionalism
to relaxation. For wearability at its peak - it’s
the only way to transition from work to play.

Lemaitre Sole Units
Parabolic – Comfort
The parabolic sole is designed to provide the user with extra comfort. The thickness of the
polyurethane (PU) midsole ensures excellent comfort, while the parabolic curve in the sole adds
“spring” by absorbing the pressure of the person’s mass. Discomfort is eliminated by the deep
cleats and air movement channels prevent heat dissipating into the footwear through the sole. A
slight shift in the body weight causes the parabolic sole to move air through the channels. Good
“ladder grips” allow practical use of the footwear. The footwear, with an extra wide and extra high
toecap, suits SA conditions.
Maxeco – General Use:
Wide Toecap
Lemaitre Footwear is fitted with wide fitting toecaps for South African conditions.
Storage
Never store footwear for extended periods • Polyurethane is a “green product” and will decompose
through a process called hydrolysis, if stored in warm, damp and dark areas for extended periods.
Benefits of double-density polyurethane soles are:
The Maxeco sole unit is designed for general use and applications, and has the added feature of
built-in arch support for long hours on your feet. A large percentage of “surface contact” area offers
superior slip resistance, with a geometrically designed “tread pattern” to displace water under the
footwear in wet conditions. The footwear, with a wide toecap, suits SA conditions.
The high-density PU sole layer is highly abrasion resistant. Due to its high impact absorption
properties, the low-density PU midsole will give a high degree of comfort. The PU sole is oil and petrol
resistant. PU has a lightweight advantage over other soling materials. The sole pattern ensures a nonslip grip on most surfaces.
Apollo – Slip Resistance:
LEMAITRE QUALITY ASSURANCES
The Apollo sole unit is specifically designed for maximum slip resistance. This sole unit is designed
to provide maximum surface contact, and the square cleat edges and flow lines in the cleat design
can traverse any surface area to maximise the slip resistance effect. The footwear, with a wide
toecap, suits SA conditions.
Raptor – Torsion Control:
Due to the highly divergent nature of the work environment, it is impossible to issue a blanket,
indefinite & unconditional guarantee on safety footwear. An all-encompassing guarantee would
invite abuse from unscrupulous sectors. Instead, each claim is individually assessed to determine
whether or not the footwear has provided the wearer “fair wear” within his or her specific work
environment.
This innovative and ground-breaking sole construction has a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)
plate designed around the pressure points exerted on the arch of the foot. The TPU plate also gives
maximum support to the ankle muscles in instances when the ankle could be twisted or sprained.
The footwear, with an extra wide toecap, suits SA conditions.
Lemaitre, being an SABS / ISO approved manufacturer, accepts full responsibility for unprovoked
footwear faults, arising from material or manufacturing error.
LEMAITRE FOOTWEAR
•Water – Polyurethane/Leather footwear is water-resistant, not waterproof. In areas where there is
constant exposure to water, employees should wear gumboots.
•Oil – Polyurethane-soled footwear is resistant to fuel and oil. The life of footwear will be prolonged
if excess oil is regularly removed from the leather surface.
•Acids - Polyurethane exhibits good resistance to a broad spectrum of acids, providing that they
are reasonably diluted. Concentrated hydrochloric, sulphuric and nitric acids will attack leather
and most metals, so it is unreasonable to expect polyurethane to endure prolonged contact with
them. (See the Polyurethane Chemical Resistance Table.)
• Heat – The sole of Lemaitre polyurethane footwear is resistant to temperatures up to 90 degrees
Celsius (not the uppers). Specialised heat-resistant footwear is required for environments
exceeding 90 degrees Celsius.
•Mines - Lemaitre safety footwear is well suited for work on open-cast mines. However, when
worn underground, PU footwear could constitute a hazard when it catches fire as it will give off
a noxious gas. It should therefore be worn with circumspection.
•Cement – Cement, in conjunction with water, dehydrates the leather of safety footwear, hardening
it and ultimately corroding the PU sole. However, PU footwear still acquits itself well on
construction sites.
Lemaitre Footwear bears the SANS quality mark as well as the ISO 9001: 2011 Quality Management
Systems certification, which are applied during manufacturing. Specification is SANS 20345:2011 Boots and Shoes with Direct Injection-moulded Soles.
Materials:
Genuine leather uppers • Anti-static insoles and socks • Optional steel toecap withstands 200 J •
Optional stainless steel midsole withstands 130 kg nail-driven force • Double density polyurethane
(PU), with special anti-static properties.
NB: As flexing, contamination, damage and wear can cause changes in electrical resistance,
regularly check the sole. Should any new footbed inners be added, these should be checked for
anti-static properties prior to insertion.
Care of Footwear
Regular maintenance of your footwear is important • Regularly remove all dirt with a moist cloth
and then apply a good quality wax shoe polish • After use, the footwear should be kept in an open,
well ventilated room • Allow wet footwear to dry slowly; never place near a heater or central
heating element • Change footwear regularly, as leather is a natural product and should be allowed
to rest • Wear cotton or natural fabric socks.
In instances of doubt, the following limitations will be borne in mind:
All reasonable claims for faulty footwear will be met, but in any instances of disagreement or
dispute, the matter shall be settled by discussions between Bagshaw Footwear and the customer
or, failing which, by referral to the South African Bureau of Standards in Pretoria.
