A Chattanooga family is on an unusual
adventure: a cross­state tour to build
awareness about being good environmental
stewards.
Dave Porfiri and Linda Duvoisin and their
daughters Jane, 10, and Harlan, 7, began their
adventure, called Pickin' Up Tennessee, on
June 1 at Tims Ford State Park in Winchester.
Next week, their schedule will bring them closer
to home.
Porfiri and Duvoisin are award­winning
documentary filmmakers, and they are
chronicling the more than 2,000­mile tour
through video and still photography. Each
family member also is blogging about

a.m.­noon. Park at 3054 Mooneyham Road.

by Roger Neely and Junior Dodson, 4 p.m. CDT
at Liberty Hill School, Andy Field picnic area, just
inside north entrance to Fall Creek Falls State
Parks in Spencer.

Sunday, June 16 — Cumberland County
In each of the 20 clean­up sites, video from the
locations, as well as a tally of waste, will be
posted on the tour website,
www.pickinuptn.org. Music to accompany the
video footage will be provided by various local
groups. Their concerts are open to the public,
as are chances to help the Porfiri/Duvoisin
family pick up litter.
• Litter pickup: Peavine Road in Crossville near
Mile Marker 22, from Westminster Court to
Weigel's, 6677 Peavine Road, 1­2 p.m. Park at
Weigel's or the adjacent Cumberland County
Bank lot.
The schedule includes two stops on the
Cumberland Plateau this weekend, followed by
stops in McMinn and Hamilton counties next
week. The last day of the tour will be in McMinn
and Polk counties on Tuesday, June 26.
• Musical performance: Bluegrass music and
square dancing by students of Mainstage
Studio, 4 p.m. CDT at Cumberland Mountain
State Park Recreation Lodge in Crossville.
Wednesday, June 19 — Meigs and Hamilton
counties
• Litter pickup: Goodfield Road/Finnell Road just
south of Decatur, 1­2 p.m. Park at Goodfield
Church. 0.7 miles north of Highway 58.
