Message from the President
Another September, another football
season, and time keeps moving faster.
I regret to inform you members, that this
is the last September that this President
will be in Office!! You voted to keep the
old officers in position for another year
so, here we are. MACC has a great
group of members who are willing to
help and participate in our many diverse
activities. That kind of support keeps a
club going strong. Thank you for your
support and vote of confidence!
Many activities are in the planning for
the balance of this year and the
beginning of 2015. I hope that you will
be able to attend most of them. Car
shows, cruise ins, trips, parades and
even a Christmas party are upcoming.
Enjoy the trips and activities, meet and
make new friends,
It's your Club…enjoy !!!!
Message from the Vice President:
David Overton
Well it is September the new officers take office, but wait they’re the same. Thanks
everyone for the vote of confidence in us. We have had some good road trips this year
and have a few more planned. We had a good turn out for the trip to Our Place Cafe with
20 corvettes and a couple of other cars. We plan to go to the Tail of the Dragon In
November. If you would like to go but haven't signed up, contact Trica Lawrence.
Hackneyville car show is October 18th. Contact Hoke Graham about this one. The
Capitol City corvette club show is September 13th more details to come. The Corvette
Cruisers Of Atlanta show is October 11th some may go a day early for this and spend the
night. As always drive your Corvette and have fun.

Museum News
Fred Atkins
A recent media alert from The National Corvette Museum announced that
the Board of Directors finalized plans for repair of the Museum’s Skydome
building, and the eight Corvettes affected by the February 12, 2014 sinkhole
collapse.
“We really wanted to preserve a portion of the hole so that guests for years
to come could see a little bit of what it was like, but after receiving more
detailed pricing, the cost outweighs the benefit,” said Museum Executive
Director Wendell Strode. After careful review of additional information and
revised plans with price quotes from the construction company, the board
voted to completely fill in the sinkhole.
Chevrolet will restore the 2009 Corvette ZR1 prototype, known as the Blue
Devil, and the 1-millionth Corvette produced – a white 1992 convertible. In
addition, the restoration of the 1962 Corvette will be funded by Chevrolet,
but will be handled by the National Corvette Museum. The remaining five
cars were determined to be too badly damaged to warrant restoration. They
will remain in their as-recovered state to preserve the historical significance
of the cars and what happened on February 12, 2014. They will become
part of a future display at the Museum.
Construction is expected to take approximately 6 months to complete. The
Museum will remain open during the process, and the work in the Skydome
will be viewable via a Plexiglas wall. The Museum plans to create a
meaningful sinkhole exhibit within the Skydome, featuring the cars involved,
3D interactive images of the sinkhole, videos, photos and more.

Corvette Trivia
Thom Williamson
1954 Corvette Nomad
The 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Nomad was a concept car built by General Motors and
introduced at the 1954 General Motors Motorama in New York City. The Nomad was
decidedly a sporty wagon way ahead of its time. The experimental Corvette Nomad
made its debut along with the 1954 Corvette Hardtop and 1954 Corvette Corvair. Just
like the Corvette Hardtop and Corvair, the Corvette Nomad concept vehicle looked like
the 1953 Corvette that was an experimental show car at the 1953 Motorama. General
Motors produced 5 of the 1954 Chevy Nomads for the auto show circuit, only 3 are
known to exist. The Chevrolet Design Studio would create a forward thinking and
forward-looking design for the 1954 Nomad, including round headlamps mounted on
gently curving fenders, a trademark Corvette grille and a forward sloping B-pillar.

MACC to the Rescue!
On August 9, eight cars showed up at the Firestone location on Highway 31 in
Hoover. MACC was called to help out a very nice intern named Bryan, when
the club he had booked for his event cancelled. Bryan was very grateful and
we should have a sponsor for our 2015 Vette Spectacular!
