SCOTT WILLIAMS | PHOTOGRAPHER “I almost lost my father just over 10 years ago, so it was extremely important to me to have father-daughter photos captured on our wedding day. For months I had planned to surprise him with our father-daughter song, ‘Put Down the Duckie’ from Sesame Street which we used to sing to each other when I was little. Scott captured the exact moment my dad realized what song was playing. I absolutely love the happy smile on his face that was captured in a photo I can always look back on.” Lauren + Lance My Approach Why are you hiring a wedding photographer? Some fancy pictures of you guys with a vintage bicycle and some balloons? Or is there a more important reason… moments, family, relationships, story… a visual record of one of the most important days in your life? You see, I’m not actually photographing the wedding for the two of you. Or even your family, your friends or your guests. I’m there to document your wedding for people that don’t exist yet. Your children, and even your grandchildren, so that 50 years from now you can gather around the dining room table with your family to look through your wedding album and they can see the joy and excitement recorded on your faces as you began your new life together. Moments are king. And a moment can happen at any time, not just the 6 hours you’ve scheduled your photographer to be there. So for that reason I’ve only ever offered wedding photography with full day coverage. I’ll be there to photograph everything from the nervous anticipation as you both get ready to the outpouring of emotions as you exchange your vows and finally the fun as you party into the night. As I photograph your wedding I pose very little throughout the day, only the formal pictures. There’s no cookie cutter approach or working off some shot list… every wedding I photograph looks and feels different. My goal at your wedding will to be create a set of images that show the joy & love you felt on your wedding day as you were surrounded by your closest family and friends on one of the most important days in your life. The minute I read it I knew that I wanted my friend Mark to read it….the only person I still keep in touch with from my kindergarten class. My friendship with Mark is one of those where we can go for months of not talking as Mark travels the world, and the moment we reconnect it’s like no time has passed. We weren’t sure if he would make it to the wedding, and in true “Mark” fashion he flew in at the last minute. These two men mean so much to me, and I love that Scott was able to capture such a wonderful moment of the three of us.” Samantha + John Engagement Sessions A pre-wedding engagement session is a great oppourtinity for all of usto get to know each other and get some pictures in a pressure-free situation. Each one stirs up a different reaction, a different memory of our wedding day. It was an absolutely perfect day, which is just what Scott captured. Though I was expecting at least SOME tears of happiness, my eyes were dry the day of. It wasn’t until our photo viewing with Scott that I welled up–as a result of this picture. Scott so perfectly captured my dad in this photograph. Instantly upon seeing his image, I could see what my dad wasn’t able to put into words about how he was feeling that day. As the family photographer, my dad is so rarely on the other side of the lens, and I love how he is the focus here.” Vanessa + Jon Little Details All prices are subject to HST. A signed contract and retainer payment is requied. The payment schedule is 50% due with the contract, 25% due 90 days before the wedding and 25% upon delivery of the proofs. Cash, cheque or Email Money Transfer are accepted. How would you describe your style? I would describe myself as a wedding photojournalist with a strong sense of compostion. My ultimate goal at each wedding is to provide you with a set of edited images that tell the complete story of your wedding day for future generations to enjoy. Do you take any posed pictures? Absolutely. I love family and think the family pictures are some of the most important pictures of the day. Of course, we'll also get some cool pictures of you guys and your wedding party. Do you photoshop all your images? My style lends itself to images that have very clean colors and tones. The only time I use photoshop is for minor retouching of portraits. Are you available for travel? Absolutely! I live in a small town but spend most of the time photographing weddings in Toronto and the rest of Ontario. I’m also available for travel Canada wide (at an additional cost). Is full day coverge really the entire day? Yes. I usually start with the bride’s hair & makeup and finish at the end of the reception. What if you 're sick? I’ve been photographing weddings for 8 years and I’ve yet to miss a wedding. Having said that, life happens and I think it’s best to be prepared. If I can’t be there to photograph your wedding, I have a network of other photographers who I can call to take my place. About Me I sometimes joke that I’m a full time stay at home dad and a part time photographer, but that’s actally probably pretty accurate. My world revolves around my wife and our 3 kids (we’re expecting our 4th!) Family is everything to me and I try to show that in my wedding photography. I’m probably one of the few photographers who actually enjoys taking the family formals since I know how important those pictures will be in years to come. I’m a relative late bloomer to photography. I wasn’t the kid who’s dad gave him a camera at 5 or shot for the school newspaper. But since then I’ve been making up for lost time, studying at some of the best photography workshops in the world… Foundation Workshop, Mountain Workshop, Magnum Photography, Cliff Mautner and David A. Williams. Something must have clicked since my images have won numerous awards at Fearless Photographers, ISPWP and the WPJA and I’ve been published in magazines like Wedding Bells.
