NEWSLETTER
June 2010
Welcome to the first Draconity.org newsletter!
Hopefully the first of many to come :)
It’s been in the making for quite a while but with work
commitments, wedding plans and other time consuming
things it had to be put on hold for a while.
So, the plan is for the newsletter to be a semi-regular
production - there isn’t always enough going on every
month for us to put one out that often, but perhaps we can
try for a quarterly release. Any current news is always shown
at the top of the website anyway.
Did You Know...?
* We have an IRC! You can find full details of
how to use it in the “Draconity IRC!” thread.
* In the IRC, we have a brand new shiny game
room! Join us for trivia, uno and roulette fun
in #gamehall.
* There is a more private section of the forums
called Private Health, to discuss more intimate
subjects (including, but not limited to, sexual).
You can opt in (and out) via your profile in
the Group Memberships section. (Full details.)
Wedding Of The Century! (..or at least of the year hehe)
Hello New Members :)
Selroth and Aurelia are getting married! It’s taking up a lot
of Aure’s time and a lot of Sel’s patience lol but we are getting
married at the end of August this year :) We’re both really
thrilled to be getting married but know that lately we haven’t
been able to be doing as much to the site as we normally do.
Thank you all for your patience while we do all of the wedding
plans, and thank you all for your congratulations. They mean
a lot to us :)
A big hello to all of our members and a warm
welcome to the new members during May:

IMPORTANT: Blogs
Monthly Art Trade
We hold an art trade every month that is open to all members,
of any skill level, to take part in. All you need to do is go to the
Monthly Art Trade forum, sign up for the current month (and
as many months as you want to take part in!) and give details
of a reference sheet, images or general details of your image.
Anyone who has a blog on the site, please
let Aurelia know if you do NOT want guests
(non-members) to be able to view it.
If anyone doesn’t have a blog but would like
one, please let Selroth know in the “Want a
blog?” thread in that section of the forums :)
INTERVIEW
TyrantWurm
<Xenorosth> So then, first question: How do you see yourself, otherkin-wise?
<TyrantWurm> I'm not sure what you mean. I am otherkin, if that's your question, though I did think that it was an escapist
fantasy at first- that I was blaming too many of my own perceived failings on the fact that I "wasn't quite human".
<Xenorosth> Well do you remember how you looked like as a dragon?
<TyrantWurm> Oh, if that's the question, then I can tell you this: Western style quadruped, tall dorsal sail, and a "hood" of
similar spines and webbing, similar to the sail, along the neck. I'm not sure of colors, though currently I'm playing with a
red/green color scheme that seems to feel right. Two fingers and an opposable thumb. Not sure of the scale, though I'm
pretty sure larger than man-sized. Oh, and side frills that went partway down the jaw, and a pair of horns starting at the back
of the head.
<Xenorosth> Anything you remember, past life wise?
<TyrantWurm> I can't say that I remember anything specifically.
<Xenorosth> We all wish we could eh?
<TyrantWurm> I wouldn't mind it if I did, but it doesn't keep me up at night. :p
<Xenorosth> So, you have been drawing pictures for the community, yes? How long have you drawn all together?
<TyrantWurm> If you ask my Mother, pretty much since I could hold a pencil. Probably since I was 4.
<Xenorosth> Yikes. So you have any advice for novice artists, such as myself?
<TyrantWurm> Yes, I've been drawing longer than you've been alive, probably. Then again, I'm a lot older than you are.
Anyways: The best advice I can give is to draw all the time. Every day if you can and probably better than that would be to
draw from life, not from your favorite manga or whatever. It's more helpful to develop your own style, than to try to mimic
someone else's. There will always be those things that inspire you, but let your talent find its own way.
<Xenorosth> So how old are you then?
<TyrantWurm> I'm 29
<Xenorosth> What do you plan to do for the site after you finish drawing everyone?
<TyrantWurm> For draconity.org? Um, I didn't have any plans. For me, drawing members of the community was part
exercise, part goodwill project I'd been doing the Dragon-A-Day posts, and I started thinking of the site, which I hadn't
visited in more than a year.
<Xenorosth> Ironic when I read your name :p
<TyrantWurm> Haha right. It was a name I picked a long time ago, when I might have been more tyrannical. I had been
using it in various and sundry ways, and ended up using it there.
<Xenorosth> Do you write any?
<TyrantWurm> Not regularly. I have a comic that I've been working on, and I write adventures for my gaming group but I
don't keep a journal or write poems if that's what you mean. The Dragon-A-Day posts- the non-member ones, anyway, are
sometthing that I would like to cobble a story together with, but I don't know if I will ever do that.
<Xenorosth> Why don't you post your comics on draconity.org?
<TyrantWurm> Because the comics live on another site that I've been building with a friend. We've been trying to make a
site that generates revenue for awhile now. So if I diverted the content to another location, then it'd defeat the purpose.
There’s a link to the comic in my signature So it's more of a business thing than "me not wanting to share with the members".
<Xenorosth> Ah I wish you luck on that ^^
<TyrantWurm> Thanks! Don't worry, I will spam the forums when the site is up and running again. :P
<Xenorosth> I can't wait to see
<TyrantWurm> That's the spirit! :D
