WORKS OF MERCY Mar 23 - End of 3rd Quarter; 8:00a Living Stations led by the 7th Grade (Church); 12:00p Dismissal Mar 24 - Holy Thursday - 7:00p Services at Incarnation Church On Tuesday, March 8, our younger students in Grades K-2 visited at Savannah Grande. The students entertained the residents with songs and gave holiday cards. The residents enjoyed the entertainment and visiting with the younger students. Mar 25 - Good Friday - 3:00p Services at Incarnation Church Mar 26 - 8:15p Easter Vigil at Incarnation Church Mar 27 - Easter Sunday Masses 7:00a, 9:00a and 11:00a Our students in Grs. 6 and 8 went to Bethesda House. The students did not have direct contact with the people served at Bethesda House. However, there was a request for the students to help the staff get the facility ready for an inspection. Students spent time cleaning out the garage, organizing the pantry, cleaning the kitchen and sprucing up the grounds. The students did a great job and the staff was most appreciative of the time ICS students spent at Bethesda House. On March 15th , the students in Grades 3-5 visited The Springs to entertain the residents. The students sang songs and gave holiday cards to the residents. The people at The Springs enjoyed visiting with the students. An e-mail was sent to the teachers and students. This sums up how great our students were. “On behalf of all the staff and residents, I want to thank you, Mrs. Givens, the teachers and students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 for sharing their time and talents with us. Their performance was spectacular and behavior outstanding! These are need based scholarships. You can apply for both, but only one scholarship is available, if accepted. For more information, contact the school office. All scholarships are on a first come basis. Apply early. This can be found at https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3C9SB Financial assistance is available for those with students in Grades K-8. VPK REGISTRATION Families who have children attending VPK can go to this link to complete the application for the Free-VPK program. Please note that children entering VPK must be 4 by September 4th. The application process begins on March 24th . Our 7th graders will spend a few hours at Our Mother’s House on Tuesday, March 22 helping with the younger children. When we called about coming, the staff was so excited to have ICS volunteer their time to help at the center. For the 2016-17 school year, we plan to organize quarterly events to help organization in the area. The experience that the students have is something they will never forget! ICS 2016 TENNIS TEAM Congratulations to the members of our ICS Tennis Team! The members this year are Gr. 4 - Francis H and William B.; Gr. 5 - Garrett T; Gr. 6 - Millington V.; Gr. 8 Laura D. and Andrea S. Most of the matches this year will be held at the Sarasota Sports Club at Beneva and Torrey Pines. Please check out the weekly newsletter for the schedule. Matches are also posted on the school calendar. and 8th graders had the advantage on ICS’s team. As the season progresses our team will build their confidence. For some of our players, this was their first year for competition. Thank you to Coach Hurl for coordinating our Tennis Team again this year. The team had their first match was against Tabernacle Christian. Our team members had great serves and wonderful returns in both the single and doubles. However, Tabernacle’s team consisting mostly of 7th SAVE THE DATES ICS has some wonderful and fun-filled events coming up. Please mark your calendars: April 8 - Family Movie Night @ ICS Parish Center These are great ways to support the school and socialize with members of our parish/ school community. Words cannot express our deepest appreciation to the families, ICS students and CMHS students, ICS students who helped at our Fish Fry these past few weeks. Your smiles while serving our guests, keeping our desserts organized, cleaning up at the end and so much more made our first FISH FRY a great success. From our guests, we heard many compliments about how friendly the students were, how they visited with the guests and were very helpful. Thank you to all those who donated desserts to make our Fish Fry successful! It Was a Seussical Day on March 10th! Thank you to our special Librarian for the Day, Zach R., for proclaiming March 10th at Seussical Day at ICS. The students and teachers enjoyed dressing as their favorite Dr. Seuss character. At ICS you could find many Thing 1 and Thing 2, the Lorax, Horton, and Cat in the Hat. Others donned strips, polka-dots and more to be in the Seussical Spirit! π Day and Other Math Activities at ICS Students in 2nd Grade used their creative skills to develop mazes with Unifix cubes. The challenge of the maze was to develop pattern that a marble could be moved by blowing through a straw -forces of wind. The teams were timed on moving the marble from start to finish. After a few trials, the students found that they needed to redesign the maze. Our 5th-8th graders spent math class on 3.14 doing Pi activities for Pi Day. There were a variety of activities working with circles, circumference, diameter and more. Oh, it would not be Pi Day without having some PIE cherry, blueberry, etc! ICS MOVIE NIGHT Featuring: Monsters University Join us for a night of fun for the whole family! Students can sit with their buddies while they watch Monsters University! When: Friday April 8 *Doors open 6PM* *Movie Starts at 6:30* Where: Parish Center Popcorn and Drinks will be provided Look out for EVITE on March 18
