The office of the Society is at Tangutur, Prakasam District, on 5th G.T. Road with the No. 171/1989 on 05.07.1989. To channelize foreign funds it got registered by the Ministry of Home Affairs with registration No. 010330056 on 12.03.1996. in addition to collect contribution from the generous persons it got registered under 12(A) and 80(G) as per the IT registration Act 1961. The main aim of the Society is to uplift economically, socially and educationally down trodden people. Further it aims to protect the poor people from unhealthy environmental hazards. Sanction of the “IEC activities for effective implementation of PC & PNDT Act” Programme: IEC activities for effective implementation of PC & PNDT Act programme has been sanctioned in favour of Gowthami Foundation, Tangutur, Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh vide file No. F.No. N.24026/ 83/2012 – PNDT, Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Nirman Bhavan, New Delhi on 8th November 2012. Subsequently the society has submitted bond and other relevant papers to the Ministry. The programme was launched on 1st December 2012. We have carried out programme as per the norms and stipulation with at most commitment and dedication. Target Area for “IEC activities for effective implementation of PC & PNDT Act” Programme” The society has studied the male and female ratios of different mandals in districts of Prakasam and Guntur and picked up 60 villages form 6 Revenue mandals namely Markapur, Donakonda and Kurichedu from Prakasam District and Vinukonda, Bollapalli and Ipuru from Guntur District where the female ratio is too meager. 2 Vision: “NO SEX SELECTION” – Equal sex ratio among male and female, especially among 0-6 years children. Goal: To activate and strengthen the implementation of Pre Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Technique (PC & PNDT) Act, 1994 in Prakasam and Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh. Objectives: 1. To increase the awareness levels among general public with specific focus on slums, rural areas and migrant population, medical and non medical personnel and clinics (Private, Government and NonGovernment) district, mandal and village administration, Women and Child Health Department at the district level, Police, Legal fraternity and different forums on importance of girl child and PC & PNDT Act. 2. To initiate / activate / strengthen different forums at village, mandal and district level to ensure effective implementation of PC & PNDT Act. 3. To support concerned authorities in conducting medical audit of PNDT records in Prakasam and Guntur districts. 4. To support concerned authorities in identifying incidences of female feticide (if any), ensure filing of cases against wrong doers (if required) and follow up with court cases against wrong doers (if any ) in Prakasam and Guntur districts. 5. Creating enabling environment – creating space and congenial environment for the girl child in Prakasam and Guntur districts. Target Groups: The project would focus on the newly married couples, pregnant women and their families, medical and non medical agencies related to care and treatment of pregnant women, police and judiciary system in Prakasam and Guntur districts. 3 Activities involved in the implementation of the programme: 1. Conducting of village level volunteers trainings. 2. Organizing workshop/meetings at mandal level. 3. Awareness camps for District level Ultra Sound Centres, Scanning centres / Diagnostic cetnres, Judiciary, Police, PRIs, all Dept. of Govt. Officials and District Appropriate Authority (DAA), Medical Professionals, Nodal 4. Organizing meetings with pregnant women and their families at village level. 5. The inter personal group discussions with young married couples at village level. 1. Village level volunteers Training Programme: We have given village level training for 60 candidates. Each training programme held for two days. The training programme were held at Prakasam district and Guntur district inviting 30 volunteers for each training. We have executed the training programmes successfully and all the details are furnished hereunder. S. Organizing workshop/meetings at mandal level : Four mandal level meetings were conducted at Markapur from Prakasam District and Vinukonda, Bollapalli and Ipuru from Guntur District. The members participated in the meetings related to Panchayat Raj Institution i.e. Surpanch, Village Secretary, MPTC members, ZPTC members in Addition employees working in Govt. such as Medical & Health Staff, Para Medical Staff, Women & Child department, Youth & Women groups, mandal & village administration, Police, and Lawyers took part in the meeting and made it a grand success. Organizing of meeting with pregnant women and their families at village level: As per our Survey reports it is evident that we have brought awareness among pregnant women and their family members. Really it is a great achievement. We have bestow our attention on the pregnant women who have female child at their first issue. In this programme all the pregnant women and women folk participated with at most cheer and extended their full cooperation. At the end of the meetings all the pregnant women and women took an oath and declared that they would not commit infanticide / foeticide in future. They recognized the significance of female child. We have conducted 20 village level meetings for pregnant women. The Inter – Personal Group discussion with young married men & women: We have executed meetings to the newly wedded couples in 20 villages. They participated eagerly and enthusiastically. They have pledged that they would not show any discrimination against female child. they have also expressed their unwillingness to undergo scanning tests at the time of pregnancy.
