TEROSON® Liquid Applied Sound Deadener (LASD)
TEROSON® Liquid Applied Sound Deadener (LASD) Not Something to Keep Quiet About The automotive industry is seeking more sustainable and cost effective solutions. Liquid Applied Sound Deadener (LASD) is one response to these trends by providing mass reduction; improved Noise-Vibration-Harshness (NVH) performance; reduced operational complexity; and compliance to expected environmental regulation. LASD significantly reduces the structural noise generated by the powertrain and wheels during operation of the vehicle, by absorbing and dissipating vibrational energy. LASD is applied directly to the car body, keeping unwanted noise and vibration from entering the vehicle passenger cabin. TEROSON® LASD is made of polymers, fillers and other active components to meet specific sounddeadening and vibration damping requirements. Since the OEM industry continues to pursue quiet, lightweight, more fuel-efficient cars and trucks, Henkel is providing the chemistry and the know-how that makes this possible. BENEFITS • Robotically applied LASD assures consistent application, providing reliable and sustainable NVH performance. • LASD is a bulk NVH material which reduces inventory complexity and logistics costs compared to conventional damping pads. • LASD can be applied robotically utilizing existing MSA and Flatstream dispensing technologies. SERVICE AND SUPPORT Henkel supports its LASD technology with experienced acoustic / materials engineering, laboratory, and field service personnel. LASD application systems can be easily added into existing body or paint shop manufacturing processes. Henkel’s Acoustic Engineering and Test Center provides customers with performance analysis in acoustics for optimum NVH solutions. In addition to panel vibration and sound propragation of a typical body structure, they evaluate for vibration damping or stiffening body panels using materials loss factor.* *The ability of acoustic compounds to dampen vibrations can be assessed by measuring the flexural vibration according to ISO 6721. The acoustic performance loss factor is a measure of the damping effect.
