TEROSON Liquid Applied Sound Deadener (LASD)
TEROSON Liquid Applied Sound Deadener (LASD) Sound damping materials for a better environment TEROSON LASD – Not something to keep quiet about A trend is taking hold across the automotive industry: Sound-damping materials that can be sprayed onto car bodies by robots are increasingly replacing bitumen mats Liquid applied sound deadener (LASD) significantly reduces the structural born noise generated by the engine and the wheels during the drive and it absorbs vibrational resonance. LASD is applied directly to the car body to keep away unwanted noise from entering the vehicle passenger cabin. LASD is a more effective sound damping compared to traditional bitumen pads and melt sheets. TEROSON LASD is made of polymers, renewable and sustainable raw materials and other active components to meet specific sounddamping requirements. Since OEM industry continues to pursue acoustic comfort, light-weight, sustainability, process efficiency and cost reduction, Henkel is providing the chemistry and the knowhow that makes this possible. Benefits >> Significant weight reduction compared to bitumen pads >> Robotically-applied LASD assures consistent and reliable quality >> Renewable and sustainable raw materials make LASD independent from traditional materials >> Succeeds current VOC limits for interior car body requirements Applications TEROSON LASD can be sprayed on car bodies by robot with existing standard dispensing technology like flatstream. Service and Support Henkel supports its LASD customers before, during and after the launch of the LASD technology. LASD can be easily implemented into the existing manufacturing process. >> Process validation >> Application services >> Troubleshooting LASD Key Performance Rubber-based LASD Acrylic-based LASD Thermoset-LASD Chemical basis Liquid polymers Acrylic dispersion Renewable plant oil Solid Content Solvent free, 100 % dry content Waterborne, dry content > appr. 80% Solvent free, 100% dry content Density 1,4 g/cm³ wet 1,3 g/cm³ dry 1,6 g/cm³ wet 0,9 g/cm³ dry 1,2 g/cm³ wet 1,1 g/cm³ dry Expansion ratio < 10% 30 – 50% < 10% Application Flatstream, Electro-Swirl or Airless spray Flatstream preferred Flatstream, Electro-Swirl or Airless spray Dispensing temperature Ambient – 35°C Ambient – 35°C Ambient – 35°C Acoustic performance (Oberst @ 3 kg/m²) 0,17 – 0,20 0,20 – 0,30 0,15 – 0,25 Emissions (VDA 278) < 450 ppm < 300 ppm < 300 ppm Delivery pack sizes Drum, tote, tank truck, 200 ltr. up to 20.000 ltr.
